ILNS champions the right to live independently and supports individuals in their pursuit of independence.
 
Our Vision 
The vision of ILNS is that all Nova Scotians with disabilities have the ability to live a full, independent life at home, work, and play within an inclusive community.

Independent Living Nova Scotia cordially invites you to our
Christmas Gala and Dance

$20 for a member ticket
$40 at the door
$30 for a non-member ticket
$300 for a table (eight seats)
Featuring music by DJ ACE.
Reservation deadline: December 5, 2019
You can pay by cheque (made to Independent Living Nova Scotia), e-transfer to
cernst@ilns.ca, or cash.

If you are paying by cheque please make out a separate cheque for your membership fee and Christmas Gala ticket.
If your membership has not been paid since last Christmas Gala it is due ($5).

Those who wish to stay overnight at the Atlantica on December 12th can do so at a reduced rate ($99 plus tax).
 

Halifax Regional Municipality is looking for volunteers to serve on its Boards and Commissions. It is a great way to connect to your community, gain valuable board experience, and meet new people. HRM is looking to ensure that the slate of applicants provided to Regional Council is reflective of the Community it serves. Persons of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Please Note: that recruitment drives occur annually in the Fall. Next year we will have twice as many board vacancies to fill.

Please Note: this year we have revamped out voluntary disclosure portion – and encourage persons of diverse backgrounds to fill out this section. Also, that our policy does allow for non-citizens to apply if not specifically set out in the terms of reference or legislation.  (if you need clarification please feel free to ask).
 
If you are successful: HRM provides a training session for New Appointees – which will provide the basic committee operations.  Our staff can also provide 101 additional training should an appointed member require or request.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, in partnership with the Nova Scotia League for Equal Opportunities (NSLEO), invites you to attend the 2019 International Day of People with Disabilities Flag Raising Ceremony on December 2, 2019, with celebratory reception to follow.
 
WHEN: Monday, December 2 from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
WHERE: 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax
 
The flag raising will take place from 9:30 – 10 a.m. in Grand Parade (weather permitting) next to the Cenotaph. Reception to follow at 10 a.m. in Halifax Hall, City Hall, with light refreshments provided.
All are welcome to attend. Please widely distribute this invitation to all interested parties.

TEAM Work Cooperative is an inclusive employment services center for Nova Scotians, located in Halifax.   Our 52 Week Self Employment Services Program assists individuals who self identify with a disability, the opportunity to develop business skills and knowledge, to access business plan development training, guidance, and business coaching, etc, to be able to take a Business Idea to generating revenue within the 12 months of the program.    
 
We are planning for the next intake of participants for January 2020.
 
We are holding an Information Session on Friday, December 6th, from 9 am – 12 pm.  Due to renovations taking place at TEAM Work Cooperative office, this time only the session is being held at CEED office at 7051 Bayers Road, in the Bayers Road Professional Centre.
