Mougins School PTA
Winter Special – December 11, 2019
!!! Two great events in one special day !!!
PRIMARY WINTER MARKET – 9 am to 2 pm Children Only  
WINTER CELEBRATION – 1 pm to 3:30 pm All Parents and Children 

The Primary Winter Market is an annual Mougins School event which brings a lot of joy to the younger members of our school community.  This year’s Winter Market will take place in the morning of Wednesday the 11th of December.  It’s an opportunity for our younger children to buy gifts for their mums, dads, brothers, sisters and even their pets!  We will wrap all the gifts for them ready to put under your Christmas tree to surprise you at home. 
We would kindly ask you to send your child to school on Wednesday morning with some money (about 20 €) in a named envelope or a purse, to allow them to buy some gifts for you.  Don’t forget a shopping bag too!  However, it is just not possible to hold the market if there are not enough items to sell - there would be just too many disappointed children!
We are still urgently looking for gifts for all ages - for mums, dads, older and younger brothers and sisters ... This is an opportunity to clear out your house of any unwanted items … So, can we all please look in our cupboards for donations.  Ideas include (new or good condition): Unopened soaps or other toiletries, makeup, perfumes, books in new or very good condition, DVDs, ties for men, scarves, pens, toys and games, household, gadgets, picture frames, etc.
Items are priced very reasonably for sale between 1 and 5 euros, the fun is in the choosing and in the giving!  Please drop off gifts no later the Tuesday the 10th of December in Elisabeth's Office.  There are 2 festive boxes awaiting your donations!
Thank you for supporting us in keeping this wonderful school tradition alive! 
The Winter Celebration is also an annual tradition and an opportunity for parents to mingle, see old friends and make new ones, enjoy food and drinks, and watch children play at School. It is also the occasion to participate in fund raising activities for new School initiatives such as participation in the COBIS World Debate Competition in February, the COBIS Sports Competition in March and the COBIS Musical Festival in June. 
Some students have already participated in the COBIS Student Leadership Weekend in November and the School has taken steps to register for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programs and is planning to participate in the Model United Nations. 
A number of tables and stations will be set up for parents who have volunteered to provide food and drinks. We are looking for more volunteers and for food and desserts donations. Please join us and participate in this fun afternoon.   

Hot Chocolate Friday – Friday, Dec. 6 


Come and join our volunteers this Friday and see the smiles on our children’ faces. 
Meet at 9:00 (after drop off) near the main gate to set everything up (about 10 minutes) and then stroll over to L’Olivier across the street for coffee. Back at School by 10:00 to be ready for the MAD RUSH!!! A quick clean up and we are gone by 10:45. 
Our volunteers raised €281 on Friday, Nov. 22.

Mougins School Primary Choir, at Mougins Village Christmas Market - Saturday, Dec. 7

This Saturday 7th December members of the Mougins School Primary Choir will be singing at the annual Mougins Village Christmas Market.

This is always a joyous occasion and our students’ voices ring out in the village showcasing our musical talent. About fifty of our students will perform in the Place des Patriotes et 17h00. Do not hesitate to come along and support them and then meander through the village and enjoy Christmas treats and do some early Christmas shopping. There will be a lamplight parade through the village after the students’ performance.
Bedlam Golf Society – Thursday, Dec. 12 
Tee off at 10:00 at Le Provençal Golf, 95 Avenue Roumanille, Biot, for 9 holes, then lunch. Lunch only available at noon, or in case of rain. To join the group: https://chat.whatsapp.com  
Dads’ Bedlam Dinner – Tuesday, Dec. 17 
Dads meet at Loulou Bleu in Valbonne, for drinks at 7 pm and dinner at 8 pm. Gilles Ajuelos, the boss, used to cook in and run some of the best restaurants in Paris.
You have the chance to try his cooking at special 'mates rates'!

Primary School Christmas Decorations 
It’s done, and they are beautiful. They create a magical environment for our Primary children. 
Thanks to Daniela and Tanya and to all the parents who contributed their time and efforts. 
Winter Concerts – Dec. 3 & 4  
The two concerts were an amazing display of talent, effort and commitment from students and teachers. 
Thanks to Myriam, Isabella, Svetlana and Nina who provided bar service, serving snacks and drinks to parents and children. Half the net bar proceeds from the two evenings has been set aside for the Music Dept. 
PTA Secretary 
We have a new Secretary secretary@mougins-school-pta.com. Thanks Gracia for stepping forward. Gracia is already doing a great job organizing the Coffee Morning. 
Carpooling - update
Our carpool coordinator has now put in contact families from Roquefort-les-Pins, Cannes and Valbonne. There are also families in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Le Rouret, Montauroux and Le Cannet interested in carpooling.
You can reply to carpool.mougins.school@gmail.com indicating in the email subject the town you live in (example: Valbonne, Mougins, etc). In the body of the email please provide additional information, such as the form your child is in, and perhaps, for larger towns, your neighbourhood or street name.

The PTA team will collect this information and then share it only among the parents living in the same town. For example, if you live in Cannes you will receive an email with the list of all other Mougins School families who live in Cannes and are interested in carpooling.
