Sustainable livelihoods, community empowerment, and forest protection in Maï-Ndombe

WWF equips households in the city of Sake / Masisi in the Virunga landscape in the DRC with solar kits and biogas digesters

Domestic energy  supply remains a major concern for Congolese populations. They are forced to resort to firewood and charcoal to meet their energy needs.

Noteworthy presence of WWF-DRC at the Belgian week of Kinshasa

The 2019 edition of the Belgian Week of Kinshasa took place from 14 to 19 October. The main theme developed in this 2nd edition was "Environment, Agriculture, Industry and Related Services". Telecommunication, transport, energy, infrastructure, logistics and basic education were among other topics discussed. WWF-DRC, through its experts, and other speakers led conferences and roundtables on various topics.

Elephants populations: encouraging signs in a bai of the North bloc of the parc

After the recent biological inventories carried out in the park, five clearings or baïs were chosen for the monitoring of target species using camera traps. 
The images collected revealed that in a bai in the northern block of the park, elephants visit the place during daytime which represents an encouraging sign.

Mission of the Salonga Biomonitoring Team to Lake Kantotsha
Lake Kantotsha is located in the southeast block of the Salonga National Park . The general habitat around, is a non-disturbed mixed mature forest with closed undergrowth. According to the local population the lake harbours many mysteries.
