In advance of the day, you can review the workshop descriptions below to start thinking about which workshops you may like to attend. The conference will include back-to-back sets of workshops, as well as a panel to end the day.

A. Keynote
Facilitators: DeVone Boggan
This workshop will offer practical tools for replication by allowing participants the opportunity to hear and inquire about what is needed to develop new interventions for community engagement. The keynote will highlight the experiences of communities that have achieved system reform, with dramatic and sustained healthy outcomes, as examples for replication.
B. Prosecuting with a Racial Equity Lens
Facilitators: Aliya Khalidi, ADA, Hiring Coordinator/Director of Training, DAA (MID) | Alice Casey, ADA, Director of District Courts
This workshop will highlight tools for prosecuting using a racial equity lens. The presenters are from the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, they will share how they've put racial equity principles into practice within their office through inward self-assessment, and hiring, training and supervision practices. ADA Alice Casey and ADA Aliya Khalidi will cover the successes and challenges they've encountered, and will be prepared to take questions from the audience.
C. Community Segregation by Design
Facilitator: Christian Bijoux, DYS Project Consultant
This multifaceted educational workshop will take a historical perspective on the role of race in community design and infrastructure in marginalized communities. Segregation is the act of separating groups of people through systemic policies, thus resulting in inequitable access and power imbalances for underserved communities. This workshop will dissect the causes and consequences of community segregation and propose potential mitigation strategies.

A. Understanding the Cultural Dynamic of Latinx Community
Facilitators: East Boston Ecumenical Council
This is an educational workshop on the cultural dynamic of the Latinx community. The workshop will provide system stakeholders with the tools to best support and address specific needs or barriers working with Latinx youth and families.
B. JDAI 101
Facilitators: Katie Byrne, DYS - JDAI Detention Reform Specialist | Nicole Barnaby, Juvenile Forensic Case Manager, WJC Juvenile Court Clinic Operations | Mindy Scheidler, MA Probation Service, JDAI Coordinator
This workshop is for those new to JDAI, or for those who needs a refresher on the many layers of the work JDAI. The workshop will cover the theory behind JDAI (Dangers of Detention & Positive Youth Development) and how JDAI’s 8 core strategies of reform have played out in practice within JDAI’s state- and county-level work. The workshop will also highlight how JDAI has evolved given the declining detention population. There will be ample time for questions from the audience.
C. Operationalizing Racial Equity for Our Youth's Resilience
Facilitator: Dr. S. Atyia Martin CEM
An interactive discussion to reframe racism, activate racial equity in ourselves and organizations, and identify the relationship between racism, racial equity, and resilience. We will explore opportunities to advance racial equity and support resilience in a way that leverages data and rehumanizes youth, their families, and ourselves.

This panel discussion will emphasize the importance of relying on the input of broad perspectives and experiences from youth and family to achieve equity, opportunity and inclusion. Panelist will share best practices for empowering, inspiring, and igniting youth’s participation in system change.
