Kevin Carson, a former member of our church who also served here as our Ministerial Intern for Pastoral Care, January - June, 2019, is being ordained as a UU minister on December 21 by the First Church and Parish in Dedham, MA. Kevin has reached out to us here at First U to ask that we consider co-sponsoring his ordination. Kevin writes that it was while attending First U that he decided to enter seminary, he feels that we were instrumental in his formation, and having our congregation co-sponsor his ordination would be very meaningful to him. Agreeing to co-sponsor would involve a vote of the congregation at a special meeting of the church, and would require a group from First U traveling to Dedham on December 21 to participate in the service.
The meeting to discuss this request will be held on Sunday, December 8, in the Meeting House immediately following the service. Per our bylaws, notice of this meeting has been given from the pulpit on two Sundays (November 24 and December 1), and this email serves as a written announcement.
Voting members must be over sixteen years old, have signed our membership book at least 3 months before the meeting, and have made an annual pledge of financial support to the church and paid on that pledge within the last 12 months.
