What's happening for Jason in 2020
Here at BPGHQ all eyes are on the bright, glistening, disturbingly moist future that is 2020. Fiasco will be in a box and on retail shelves all over the world, including in translation in Korea and Russia and maybe other exciting places. We've put so much effort into this new version that I'm a little wistful at saying goodbye to it as an idea and hello to it as an actual box with a cool game in it. The game group Steve and I meet up for regularly just played last week, and Fiasco is still a great game I love playing. So 2020 will be about sharing that love a little, but it will also be sort of liberating not to be designing, testing and building Fiasco any more.
So what else will be happening? So many things. I continue to get offers to come and talk at colleges and universities and will be visiting some great campuses in 2020. We will continue to grow our Patreon, through which we're releasing small, weird games regularly. I'll be running some local and regional larps at a scale that I've never tried before. I'll be going to Fastaval during Easter to compete with the game Lizzie Stark and I wrote, The Lesser Players' Tale. I've been invited to an artist's residency in the fall. But the thing I'm most excited about is a clean slate. A chance to design some stuff, maybe another "big" game. I'd like to collaborate more. 2019 was, very consciously, about listening more and talking less, and I feel like the new year might be one in which I say some stuff again.
Thanks for your interest and support!
