The Whitewater Grocery Co. Newsletter: December 2019

Happy holiday season to you all!

We're closing out the year with 615 Owners and growing and already looking ahead to 2020 and the work that needs to be done to reach our milestones. To start our GM search, we need around 850 Owners. To reach that number, we'll need 19 new Owners/mo next year. With your continued help-- talking to friends and family about the co-op, referring new Owners, volunteering for the small and big tasks, and sharing this newsletter or social media posts often--we can do this.

Note from our Board President

First, if you missed our President, Lacey Reichwald's, note from last week on gratitude, abundance, and cooperation, check it out here!

GIFT OWNERSHIPS!

What better gift to give than an ownership to a co-op? Gift ownerships come with one of our very own GroCo branded T-shirts.
NEW this year: whoever purchases a gift ownership will receive one of our GroCo branded wooden spoons!

"I really love the grass roots effort of building a grocery store together with my neighbors, and being able to choose what WE believe is in Whitewater's best interest." -Krista M.

This is Owner #159, Krista Mikulski, supervisor at UPS and laser engraving extraordinaire! We sat down to learn a little about her and find out her thoughts on becoming an Owner. Read more >>

Speaking of laser engraving extraordinaire, here are Krista's creations she'll have for sale at the Indoor City Market on Saturdays from 9-noon! You can purchase a cutting board, trivet, coasters, Christmas ornament, and/or keychains customized with your Owner number. Key Chain is $10, Coasters are $14, Ornament is $18, Trivet is $5, and the cutting boards vary in price. And of course, a portion of the proceeds go to the GroCo! Get your gifting on, GroCo friends!

LOOKING AHEAD

  • GROCO AD AT WW CINEMAS! Be on the lookout for our new ad on the big screen before you catch your next movie! We're excited for this opportunity to reach a wider audience.

  • 1 TREE/OWNERSHIP! January through April next year, we plan to plant a tree for every Ownership purchased.

  • COCKTAIL PARTY! Stay tuned for details on our next GroCo Cocktail Party to celebrate the start of a new year!

Your Board meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. (for 30 minutes of socializing with Owners) with a Call to Order at 6:30 p.m. at the Whitewater Innovation Center, 1221 Innovation Drive. Board meetings are always open to Owners, and we welcome Owners to stay and get the inside scoop! *This month's meeting is Thursday, December 19th.
We are seeking volunteers for a variety of small positions/tasks. If volunteering for this endeavor interests you, contact Katy (the one holding the lemon above!), and she will work with you to pinpoint your skillset so you're working on things you love to do!

The Whitewater Grocery Co. is owned by 615 people! That means that 615 of us have committed to building a grocery store that meets the needs of our community, is a place for friends and neighbors to gather and learn, fosters sustainable practices for our planet and profit, and is welcoming to all.

Here's to continuing to grow!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING AND SUPPORTING, GROCO FRIENDS!
