I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving/Truthsgiving, and that any travels you made were not onerous.
As you probably know, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become established as #GivingTuesday, a day for intense online fundraising and giving. We are delighted to once again join this tradition, which we see as a great way to connect with all our wonderful partners, to thank you for your commitment, and to invite you to join us in planning and underwriting our work for the year ahead.
This year, to aid our efforts, we have a very heartfelt letter from our friend, the Gaza-Palestinian activist Yousef Aljamal, which I hope you will read! I will pick out a few of the points he makes, below.
But first, here's a very specific request: If you are on Facebook, I urge you to give to us through your account there tomorrow, Tuesday, as soon after 8 am EST as possible! That way, any donation you make will be matched 100% by Facebook!

So now, a few excerpts from what Yousef Aljamal said in his letter:
This year, Just World Educational has produced remarkable projects that aim to raise awareness about several Middle East-related issues. This includes the man-made humanitarian disaster in Yemen, protests in Algeria, the Great March of Return in Gaza, and unconditional US support for Israel and its crimes.
Just World Educational has generously given us much-needed information about current issues in the Middle East, which has contributed to having a more informed public, which is essential because of the important role the US has played in the region over the years.
It is time to give back to JWE, and one way to do so is to make a donation this #GivingTuesday!
Amen to that, Yousef!
In his letter, he also recalled that,
I just returned back from a month-long speaking tour in the United States, which was co-sponsored by Just World Educational. During the speaking tour, I was able to highlight the plight of Palestinian children in Israeli jails as well as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, where I grew up.
 I spoke at dozens of places in eight different US cities, and met with five members of Congress and 16 congressional offices in an attempt to gain support for the HR 2407 bill, which aims to make sure that US aid is not used to torture or detain children, including Palestinian children. JWE published the US version of the book Dreaming of Freedom: Palestinian Child Prisoners Speak, which I translated.
Because of Just World Educational, the voices of Palestinian children have been all over the United States.

I am so grateful for everything Yousef did on his tour! It is magical to see what happens when Americans start interacting face-to-face with someone from an area like Gaza that has been so thoroughly demonized in our corporate media.
We want to be able to do more projects like Yousef's speaking tour. We want to keep our blog filled with content on international issues that is timely, innovative, and above all useful and informative!
 Have you checked the blog out recently? Just in the past few weeks we've had pieces about the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Kent State massacre, about the current protests in Iraq, about the Congressional Progressive Caucus moving toward support for Palestinian rights, about Yousef's recent tour, and about Zionism...
But everything we do takes resources. So please, I urge you to contribute as generously as you can-- on #GivingTuesday, and in your end-of-year giving. Anything you can give will help us to Build The Informed Public that is so desperately needed.
