Tuesday, 12/3: Film Premiere of "Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools," 5 and 7pm, The Gateway Film Center, 1550 North High St, Columbus. "The Women's Fund of Central Ohio is proud to partner with Rise Sister Rise, National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Central Ohio Chapter, Columbus City Schools, and Gateway Film Center to premiere the first of several screenings in Columbus of “PUSHOUT: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.” "PUSHOUT" exposes a new and alarming trend: African American girls are the fastest-growing population in the juvenile justice system and the only group of girls disproportionately experiencing harsh discipline at every educational level. The film also explores critical interventions that interrupt criminalization in schools, which includes the work and stories of Columbus-based leaders, Stephanie Patton, Principal of Columbus Preparatory School for Girls, and Judge Terri Jamison, Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Domestic Relations Division – Juvenile Branch. Get your free ticket at this link!"
