Giving Tuesday & International Day of People With Disability

Dear Friends,
Today is Giving Tuesday, and I need your help to raise at least $500 out of the $22,500 needed to publish YouTube interviews of 200 peer mentors with spinal cord injuries by the end of 2020 to connect newly-injured patients to local peer support around the world. Publishing these short stories across our growing social media channels, we expect to reach an online global viewership of over 3,000 YouTube subscribers, 500,000 views and respond to hundreds of requests for community connections and information. And the real-world impact? Take a look at one public comment on our interview of C2/3 complete quadriplegic and history buff Jonathan Hobbs from Massachusetts.
"I just subscribed. Im a c5 incomplete quad of 24 years. I did really good for 10-15 but after that chronic pain got me down mentally and physically which triggered depression. I went to college and pushing up huge ramps with 45 lbs of books destroyed my shoulders. I got my associates degree in computer programming but after several years of trying nobody wld hire me and that made depression worse. But you've inspired me to get off my ass and try to find something else to live for. Keep up the good work."

Today is also International Day of People with Disabilities, and More Than Walking is teaming up with AbleThrive in an international campaign called #ThriveWorldwide to celebrate living life to the fullest, with over 43 meet-ups in more than 17 countries. Join More Than Walking and event sponsors B:Hive Coworking, Artist & Craftsman Supply, and Leisha's Bakeria for a FREE Paint & Coffee Hour from 4-6 pm at 7 Lafayette Cir, Bridgeport, CT. Participants can enjoy baked goods and hot drinks while collaborating on pieces of a watercolor mural that will illustrate the path people with disabilities take to pursue independence. The finished mural will be professionally photographed and shared across More Than Walking's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, with high-resolution digital copies sent to participants.
