Greetings, Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers!

Happy December! I hope that you all are having a pleasant holiday season with family, friends, food, or however else you choose to spend it. This time of year can be a great opportunity to give back to others. During my time as a Key Clubber, I’ve seen students volunteering at local food or clothing banks, wrapping gifts at fire stations, and sponsoring families that can’t afford gifts for their children. Think of a few ways you can spread joy this month.

I have a few exciting updates for this biweekly. To start, you have the chance at winning a free registration for DCON 2020 ($275 value). All you have to do is complete the Membership Experience Survey located in the next section of this update. If you’re interested in running for higher office, this update includes Candidate Packets, information about the Running for Higher Office Webinar, and the link that you’ll need to attend it. Lastly, you can find out who the recipients of this year’s PNWOF grants are at the bottom of this email.

As always, feel free to reach out to me at governor@pnwkeyclub.org if you have any questions!

The Executive Committee is conducting a Membership Experience Survey from December 1st to December 30th. This biennial survey will measure the effectiveness of various aspects of the district in order to assess what steps need to be taken next. The results of this survey will be incorporated into training materials for the 2020-2021 District Board, the District's Strategic Plan, and future events or opportunities offered by PNW Key Club. Topics covered in this survey include Key Club Days, Officer Training Conferences, District Convention, Communication with the District, and Lieutenant Governor performance. One respondent will be randomly selected to win a free registration for DCON 2020. The link to the survey can be found by clicking the button below. Please share this survey with other members of your club.

Winter typically marks the peak time for club and divisional elections throughout the district. As some members consider running for Lieutenant Governor or District Executive office, the Executive Committee develops educational materials to assist these prospective candidates in deciding which position, if any, may suit them best. The annual Running for Higher Office Webinar will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at 7:00 PM. This webinar will cover the duties of Lieutenant Governors and District Executive Officers, endorsement for International office, and required paperwork. There will also be time for questioning after the webinar concludes. For more information on the role of District Board members and to register for the webinar, please click the buttons below.

Each year, PNW Key Club opens grant applications for the Pacific Northwest Opportunities Fund, also known as the PNWOF. By receiving funding for up to two-thirds of a service project, clubs have the opportunity to give back to their community in new and innovative ways that they may not have been able to accomplish otherwise. The PNWOF Committee, chaired by District Treasurer Katie Sell, recently concluded their review of applications, selecting six recipients out of 32 applications.

The 2019-2020 PNWOF recipients are:
  • Puyallup High School in Division 30: Skate for Swazi
  • Woodrow Wilson High School in Division 62: Foster Boxes
  • Southridge High School in Division 65: Support Homeless Students
  • Centennial High School in Division 66: Can Food Project
  • Clackamas High School in Division 66: Winter Rage
  • McLoughlin High School in Division 80: Fill a Backpack, Make a Smile

Congratulations to all grant recipients! For more information about the Pacific Northwest Opportunities Fund, be sure to visit https://www.pnwkeyclub.org/pnwof.
