Save the Date: February 15, 2020

The first Leadership Development Center (LDC) of the spring semester will be held on February 15 (application deadline 1/29/20). During the LDC, students participate in several exercises simulating a highly engaging “day at work” within the context of a specific business scenario applicable to all majors and career paths. Students complete independent work tasks, interact with professionally trained assessors, and collaborate with their peers.

After participating in the LDC, students receive individualized developmental feedback and are given insight into competencies deemed most pertinent to success by industry leaders. Students can then use the feedback to create an action plan with a trained assessor.

This course will examine the patterns by which such erosion commonly occurs: how do democracies transition into authoritarianism? According to former English 202B Honors tutors:
I had a really great time in English 202BH. . . . I am teaching with Teach for America after graduation, and I felt that tutoring this semester was great preparation . . . . For the learners who need your help, your decision to enroll in this class and to provide a much needed community service could be life-altering.

It was one of the best feelings in the world when I found out that all the hard work I had put in with Beth resulted in her passing the math portion of the GED exam. I can also guarantee that you will not be the only one to benefit from this experience. Learning partners genuinely appreciate all the help we tutors are providing them.

With patience, a positive outlook, and an open mind, you will have the experience of a lifetime, and this class will make your semester one of the best here at Penn State!
