The Village Institute’s Fund The Village Festival!

The Village Institute is a live/learn/work community for single mother refugee families. They are excited to be moving into a new space. They HOPE to be moved in by December, but either way you'll be helping them make the move!

Come enjoy food, crafts, music, holiday shopping, and a silent auction benefitting their work. Hear from refugee speakers about what makes this community special. Fun for the whole family!

Come join this 2-day training on powerful open-source tools such as R and QGIS where you’ll learn how to leverage aWhere’s 1.7 million virtual weather stations and 13+ years of historical data to inform decisions for food security, disaster risk reduction planning, and more for locations across the globe. aWhere’s localized weather data can help adapt our world to climate change!


Trump’s Middle East Policy: A Shifting Reality for Iran and Other Regional Actors

The Trump Administration's recent policy shifts in the Middle East, from withdrawing troops from northern Syria to the relative lack of response following Iranian alleged rocket attacks on Saudi oil facilities, have already had profound consequences across the region. Join us for a panel discussion on who the winners and losers of these U.S. policy divergences may be, including the governments of Iran, Israel, and other actors in the Middle East. Panelists will include former US Ambassador Grappo, University of Denver professor and Middle East expert Micheline Ishay, and NIAC Senior Research Analyst Sina Toossi and will be moderated by the Center's director Nader Hashemi. WORLDLY OPPORTUNITIES!

Homestay Opportunities!
WorldDenver is hosting homestay opportunities! Currently, they are looking for volunteers for these homestay opportunities:

Russia Open World (December 6- December 14)

YOUTH AMBASSADORS:  January 28 -February 10, 2020
16 high school participants and 2 adult mentors from Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua

OPEN WORLD: February 14-22, 2020
6 professionals from Russia

Expectations for Homestay Hosts:

-Provide a welcoming home that is respectful of other cultures
-Treat your guest(s) like family
-Share your favorite cultural parts of the city and state 
-Provide a room with an individual bed & access to a shared bathroom (youth can share rooms, must have individual bed)
-Provide 2 meals/day Monday-Friday, 3 meals/day on weekends (dietary restrictions may apply)
-Transportation: Students will need to be dropped off/picked up at WorldDenver office;
-Professionals: public transportation to/from worksite placements, Monday – Friday

Homestay Hosting is a great way to travel the world without leaving your home.

New Dimension of Hope is a Denver-based nonprofit organization that addresses the issues of poverty and illiteracy as it pertains to less fortunate children around the world.  

Their mission is to give children in disadvantaged situations unlimited opportunities to improve their reading, writing, and computer skills through educational programs. 
They do this by partnering with underserved communities to construct sustainable school buildings and facilitate the provision of multidimensional social services.

They strive to be a part of transforming the education of millions of children in the most underserved villages around the world.
