The 'Watercolour Landscapes of Central Australia' exhibition showcases the current generation of watercolour artists who are proudly continuing the Hermannsburg School atercolour tradition.  This is an exceptional accomplishment considering it is now eighty five years since Albert Namatjira first encountered watercolour painting at the Hermannsburg Mission when he met is mentor and friend Rex Battarbee. If you are in Fremantle be sure to see this breathtaking collection of works.
Showing now at Japingka Gallery 47 High St Fremantle.
Exhibition Runs Until 25 Mar 2020.
                22ND BIENNALE OF SYDNEY
                                       THE TIME HAS COME FOLKS!
If you haven't already heard, we are in the Biennale of Sydney...Woohoo! Hubert Pareroultja, Mervyn Rubuntja and Dellina Inkamala headed off yesterday for an action packed 10 days in Sydney. Good luck you Mob.

Check out what's on over an amazing 87 days of arts and culture.

We would like to send a huge Thank You to Brook Andrew, Tony Albert and Australian Council for the Arts (AUSCO) for all their hard work in helping make this adventure possible.

A statement from Mervyn Rubuntja talking about the body of works to be on exhibition:

We want to introduce to people in urban environments the beautiful landscape of the Northern Territory. At the same time, we want to raise awareness about the issues we are facing. We feel that there is a lack of consultation with traditional owners. If the authorities would listen to us, they would support us with housing issues for example, rather than investing in mining on our country, which we strongly object to. The works we present at the Biennale of Sydney are to let people know about our country and our lives.

 CICADA PRESS WORKSHOP

This year we will be participating in another great workshop with the team at Cicada Press in Sydney. We are excited  Hubert Pareroultja and Dellina Inkamala will create for the first time new prints alongside Mervyn Rubuntja who will be returning to make more new prints that have been such a success. We would like to thank Michael Kempson for inviting us back to participate in this wonderful workshop.
Lumen Print: Gloria Pannka - Mt Sonder, NT
If you didn't get to Sydney to see these beautiful Lumen Prints at The National 2019, they are now on exhibition in our Gallery.

A little background information about the show to tickle your fancy:
The camera-less lumen-print technique was a way to cite and expand upon Albert Namatjira’s likely relationship to the photographic medium. The process for the artists was to collect dry leaves and place on the photo paper. Other elements were added before placing a clear glass on top and leaving in direct sunlight. Once the time was up they then cleaned in chemicals and water and left to dry. The artists were then able to paint on the paper with watercolour.
We would like to thank AGNSW and the staff for their support throughout this project.
NEW: Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre’s Publication
We currently have our new publication in stock. This publication has all our major projects we have worked on over the years, including developments and new directions undertaken from 2004. It also has a comprehensive family tree showing each artists relationship to  Albert Namatjira. This has been a long time in the making so we are proud to finally have this in our hot little hands. A big thank you to the writer, Hannah Kothe and designer, Elliat Rich for their hard work in helping this come to fruition.

It is now online, in our gallery and soon to be stocked elsewhere: Retail $35.00
                              AMENDMENTS

As much as we try to thank and acknowledge everyone we collaborate with for their hard work and support, we do at times make mistakes...
Amendment from our November news blast titled: 'Iltja Ntjarra Mural'. We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication artist, Mark Twohig showed while mentoring our artists on this challenging large scale mural project.
