Wednesday, December 4, Food from the Bible Jesus is the reason for the season! Celebrate Scripture through food, and have everyone bring foods that contain an ingredient mentioned in the Bible. Think of ingredients like: fish, wheat, grapes, figs, honey, spices, milk, etc.

Wednesday, December 11, International Christmas Look up traditional Christmas dishes in other parts of the world and have an international fare. The Smithsonian has a big list of Christmas dishes from around the world.

Wednesday, December 18, Food You Ate When You Were a Kid Since childhood and memories are often associated with Christmas. Celebrate the “youthfulness” of the season by having everyone bring a dish that reminds them of their childhood.
Midweek advent services will be on Wednesday at 7PM.

The youth will be providing soup, salad and bread with free will donation going towards the July 2022 National Youth Gathering in Texas. Fight the winter cold and warm up with fellowship and some soup.

Youth Volunteers Needed:
Calling youth and families with students 5th graders and up: Please consider signing up to help with the winter soup and salad fundraiser. If you have a student presently in 5th grade he or she will be eligible to attend the 2022 National Youth Gathering to Texas. Your help and efforts now  will help defray the cost three years from now. Bring soup, salad, containers, or help clean up.

ON GOING EVENTS/CLASSES
Free Baby Signing Time classes. Mom's to get together and learn how to teach their babies (0-2yrs) American Sign Language. Taught by an ASL certified instructor, Katherine Bonine. Classes begin Wednesday, December 3 from 1-1:30 . Meet in the nursery. Classes are ongoing till May. Check our website calendar for skip dates.

The office is wishing for a few items so we can keep our ministry going and continue to serve the congregation and visitors. Should you be willing and able to donate the items below we would be most appreciative.

Items will be removed when received or contact Gwen to let her know you will be buying the item in question and she will remove it from the list.

Seeking committee members to help plan our preschool fundraiser: Hastings Talent Show
Responsibilities include:
·        Recruiting and scheduling acts
·        Holding auditions (if number of participants exceeds capacity for 2 hour program).
·        Recruiting an emcee & judges panel
·        Securing a venue, lighting, & sound
·        Refreshments
·        Soliciting donations and business sponsorships
·        Advertising (KDWA, fliers, signage, newspaper, word of mouth, social media, etc)
·        Selling tickets in advance
·        Organizing volunteers (set-up, event implementation, and clean-up)
·        Thanking all the donors and participants after the event

HASTINGS COMMUNITY INFORMATION
The River Valley Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Paul Cravens, is pleased to offer its eight annual Christmas Holiday Concert for Hastings and the surrounding communities. The concert will be held on Sunday December 15th at 3pm at St. Philips Church in Hastings located at 15th and Pleasant.   The program will include many of your Christmas holiday favorites. Our special guest performers this year will be the Vocal Jazz singers from Hastings High School adding their special interpretations of the Christmas season. This concert will be a wonderful addition to your family’s  Christmas celebrations.  So come, bring the kids and bring a friend too.   A food donation to Hastings Family Service food shelf will be gathered and a free will offering to support the Band will be taken.    Merry Christmas and see you there!
