Bicycle covered in snow locked to fence
Remove your bicycle from the outdoor bike racks prior to leaving for winter break. Plowing equipment and workers clearing snow can damage your bike. Students: secure your bike in the bike room of your residence hall or store it inside of your room to keep it safe and out of the wintry conditions.

Donations can be dropped off at the front lobby at 75 Charlesfield or picked up by Officer Alarcon by 12/20/19. For pick up donations, please email cesar_alarcon@brown.edu
December Safety Tips:
  • Crime traditionally increases this time of year so remember to lock your packages in the trunk of your car - out of sight for potential theft!
  • Before leaving campus for winter break, verify that your room doors and windows are closed and locked. Make sure you have your room key, photo ID, and passport with you. We also recommend that you register your property with DPS. Call 401-863-1379 for assistance.
  • When Safewalk and the Brown University Shuttle are not operating and you do not wish to walk across campus alone late at night, you can request an escort with the Department of Public Safety by calling 863-3322. DPS will send an officer to walk or drive (depending on availability) you from any point on campus or within our patrol route.
  • Consider using battery-operated flameless candles. Turn off all holiday lights before going to bed or leaving your home. If you have a tree, water it every day to prevent a dry tree from catching flame.
Protect your valuables - visit Officer Shelton at our upcoming property registration events to register your bike, computer, tablet, or phone:

  • 12/6 from 11 am - 2 pm at the Ratty
