Applications Open for USBJI’s Grant Mentoring Program
Applications are being accepted for the United States Bone and Joint Initiative’s Young Investigator Initiative Grant Mentoring and Career Development Program. The deadline is January 15, 2020.
Dr. Chad Cook Appointed as External Assessor for Israel
Dr. Cook has been appointed as an external assessor for the Council for Higher Education (CHE) of the country of Israel. Dr. Cook will be part of a team evaluating the five physiotherapy university programs in Israel in 2020.

Duke Orthopaedics Welcomes Timothy Faw
We’re excited to welcome Dr. Timothy Faw to the Division of Doctor of Physical Therapy within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Duke Orthopaedic Surgery’s flag football team, Bone Saw, had a dominant 20-0 win over the business school in the flag football championship. This represents the fourth championship in five years. Congratulations!

Duke REACH Equity Center Mentored Career Development The Duke Center for REsearch to AdvanCe Healthcare Equity (REACH Equity) is seeking applications for an internal mentored research career development award (CDA) for junior investigators proposing research related to the Center’s theme of addressing racial and ethnic disparities in health by developing and testing interventions that improve the quality of patient-centered care in the clinical encounter. Duke CTSA Research Training Program (Duke CTSA TL1) is NOW accepting PHYSICIAN research fellowship applications.
The Duke CTSA TL1 physician fellowship provides 2 years of funded time to support the research training of physician-scientists. We have particular interest in physician trainees with an MD or MD/PHD who are interested in broadening their previous training to include a new category of research methodology (e.g., bench science trainees looking to gain training in translational or clinical research, or vice versa) and applicants looking to obtain training in data science methodology. Up to three scholars may be awarded and will receive tailored professional development support, an NIH-scale postdoctoral stipend, and federally-designated training-related expenses.
