Brad and his life-long sweetheart, Cheri, owned The Naked Sheep Knit Shop for 12 years. Cheri is now a designer and instructor working at Twisted Yarn Shop. Living with a knitter for over 30 years has taught Brad a lot. He will be sharing insightful lessons, humorous stories, and tips to keep from unraveling during the holidays and all year long. 

He will also be selling and signing copies of his Knitting-themed Children's book, There's Only One You.

Rose Haven Blankets

Welcome the team from Rose Haven as they share their appreciation as they're presented with your handmade blankets. Your incredible work on making many, many blankets is inspiring.

In addition, if you would like to donate unopened and sealed menstrual products to Rose Haven, you may bring them to the this meeting.

Membership Renewal

We're coming up on our 2nd birthday! 2019 has been a great year with all of you. We're so humbled to see Puddletown Knitters Guild grow so fast.

When you renew by December 31, 2019, the fee is $30 for all of 2020. Starting January 2020, membership dues paid in 2020 will be $35.

We also take cards, check, or cash at meetings.

Meeting Volunteers

Thank you to the generous volunteers that help us set up, greet visitors, bring snacks, and put away chairs and tables. You make it possible for meetings to go swiftly! 

Kim Winter, our lovely volunteer coordinator, is always looking for volunteers.

Currently, we are looking for help in Audio-Visual, so you have experience with speaking events, projectors, slide-show presentations, microphones/speakers, and other tech that we use during presentations, and have some level of commitment, then please let us know!

January 18th Destash Brunch Party!

What: Puddletown's Second Annual Brunch and Destash party! Hosted by the intrepid and dynamic Emme Von (see her hints below for selling)

When: Saturday January 18th from 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Where: Our regular meeting place, 2620 NE Fremont St.

Bring: A breakfast goodie to share. Puddletown will provide the coffee, tea, and juice!

Sellers: If you plan on selling, you MUST arrive by 8:30 AM to set up your table and chairs. Once you leave you MUST put away table/chairs. Sharing a table with a friend is a good idea. If sellers arrive later than 8:30 AM, they will not be allowed to sell (though, you're welcome to buy and enjoy brunch).

Buyers: You may arrive by 9:00 AM and leave anytime during the morning (after you spent your wad).

Payment: The buyer and seller agree on payment. In general cash or check is preferred but some sellers may accept other forms of payment such as PayPal, Venmo or Apple Square. To be sure cash is always a good choice!!!

How to Sell Yarn and Materials

The most important tip is to make your items look pretty. Remember to tuck in any loose ends, and straighten any tags. When shopping for used yarn, all retail rules apply! Make sure all of your yarn and tools are visibly priced as well!

If the yarn is wound: You can certainly re-cake it for aesthetics! Place it in bags. Keep the ball band visible in any plastic storage bags.

If the yarn is in a skein: Keep it lined up in the same direction (all the yarn butts down, preferably!) and tuck in any loose ties or ends. If it is in a plastic bag, make sure the labels are all facing the same direction.

If you're keeping single skeins unbagged, make sure they're neat with no errant ties or super floppy hang tags. 

For non yarn: Make sure any equipment is dust free, needles are labelled with correct size, and project bags are clean (you can even press them for presentation and stuff with paper so people can visualize their own projects in them!). Books and non-PDF patterns can be sold as well.

Jennifer Berg: Keeping My Culture Alive Through Knit Design

We are so excited to announce that we will host Jennifer Berg on Friday, April 17 and Saturday April 18.  

If you follow Ravelry's Hot Right Now or emerging designers on social media you probably know Jen's work (if not, go follow @native.knitter on Instagram right now!). 

Jen's presentation is titled "Keeping My Culture Alive Through Knit Design." We will be able to share more details about her presentation in the weeks to come, but want you to save the date now.  

In anticipation of Jen's visit to Portland, Kim Winter and The Knotty Lamb will offer a colorwork class featuring one of Jen's designs The Sunset Mesa Cowl. The class will be on January 8 and 15. Registration has just opened for the class and details are on the website.
