Burglary - 825 Highland Lane (Storage Unit)
On November 4, 2019, police were dispatched to a larceny call at 825 Highland Ln NE (Carlton Condominium). A female victim advised she had returned home from an international trip and received an email from the condominium staff indicating that her storage unit across from her condo had been broken into. The email suggested the condominium staff thought the break-in happened on October 27, 2019 between 2-3:00 AM, but the victim did not haven an explanation for how the staff had narrowed it down to that time frame. The victim advised that her $800 Tumi luggage was stolen, along with a Home Depot bag full of tools. Video was not available. Prints were not attempted or obtained because there was not a substantial surface to pull prints off of. The storage unit was not damaged, but no one other than the victim had access, so it was unclear how the suspects had broken in to steal the items.
Aggravated Assault - 810 North Highland Av
On November 23, just after midnight, police were dispatched to Surin of Thailand restaurant. A Hispanic male, approximately 5’ 7”, 170 lbs, with short hair and wearing a white t-shirt, jacket and camouflage pants was seen pointing a gun at the restaurant manager while tapping the window and mouthing something unknown. The manager said the suspect had previously been at the Ocean Wave restaurant and tried to drink there, but when he was asked for ID, the victim got upset and came over to Surin, where he started arguing with the staff there. The manager stated that the suspect left and came back with a gun and pointed it toward him and some other people, tapping on the window and mouthing something from outside the restaurant. The restaurant only has camera footage inside, and no other exterior cameras were located in the area. Police advised the manager not to let the suspect back into the restaurant and to avoid further confrontation by calling police immediately if he was seen again.
