The Holiday Season Has Arrived
|
|
|
That time of year has arrived again! Some of you love it, some not so much. I love the opportunity to have winter lights in and on my house, Owen does not! 😆
|
|
|
On a deeper level, I like how the holiday season reminds us of things and people outside ourselves. December is particularly poignant for me this year with the anniversary of my Dad’s passing. I miss you everyday Dad; keep sending me those dimes and heart rocks to remind me you’re watching.
|
|
|
Generosity – ‘Tis the Season!
|
|
For many, the holiday season encourages generosity and kindness more than any other time of year. At Elements, we love to be generous and supportive in many ways throughout the year including donating to clients’ events and causes. I encourage everyone who can to connect with causes close to their hearts and communities. Owen and I support Loaves & Fishes and Haven Society every year. I also personally participate in 100+ Women Who Care Mid-Island, who collectively gave over $170,000 to worthy community non-profits last year.
Let’s be generous of spirit as well. Perhaps that means giving more of our time or being more understanding of that driver who just cut you off or being more tolerant of our differences. In any relationship where two people have the potential to sit on opposite sides of a topic or point of view (recent labour disputes come to mind), it is especially important to remember both sides need our support and encouragement to find a principled path forward.
I want to emphasize that how you cultivate generosity in your life is truly up to you! I do invite you to cultivate it not just in December but every day and see how your experience changes. Remember that we are all in this together!
