1. New Drop-In Locations for Housing Resources 
We are set to begin a series of drop-in locations for housing resources around the county! 

Currently, we will be operating a drop-in time one day a week in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Orillia and Midland.  Each drop-in will be located within the community at an easily accessible community partner location: 
  • Collingwood drop-in will take place on Mondays at the Collingwood Public Library,
  • Orillia drop-in will take place on Tuesdays at the Orillia Public Library,
  • Wasaga Beach drop-in will take place on Wednesday at the South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre, and
  • Midland will have a drop-in that will be added ASAP.
These drop-ins will start the week of Dec. 16th 2019.

2. NVCI Trainer Request for Interest

The Simcoe County Alliance to End Homelessness (SCATEH) is seeking 1 interested party to train as our local Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Regional Trainers. We would like to invite our colleagues from across the County of Simcoe who are working in the housing, health and homeless serving sector and other related professionals to submit an Expression of Interest. 

The successful candidate will be sent for NVCI Instructor Training with expenses paid by SCATEH. 

Please provide a two-page letter for your Expression of Interest, including your current role in the community and the reasons why you are interested in this particular initiative. In addition, please provide a letter of support from your home agency. We strongly encourage people with Lived Experience and people working with indigenous populations, youth and those discharging from institutions to consider this opportunity. There may be a stipend provided to the supporting agency to support the backfill of the trainer being away from the organization during training as well as mileage, upon request. 

The expressions of interest will close at 4:00 pm Monday, December 16th, 2019.

NVCI Regional Trainer 

CONSIDERATIONS and REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will:

  • Be available to attend a 3-5 full day mandatory Train the Trainer training.
  • Commit to this role from January 2020-December 2021.
  • Be available to travel throughout Simcoe County to provide training one time per quarter at a minimum. Must have reliable transportation.
  • Work with a Leadership SCATEH Team to support this effort and develop a consistent localized program and content.
  • Work with our SCATEH Project Coordinator to organize training sessions in the community and keep a record of those who have been trained.
  • Provide quarterly activity reports to the SCATEH Steering Committee.
