The JU&A National Executive Salaries Review (NESR)

Since 2001, JU&A has conducted the NESR in response to a need for industry-specific salary benchmarks. The NESR provides information on salary and benefits benchmarks by state, location, size and type of organisation for all the standard executive positions within aged residential and home care.
 
A unique feature of this survey is that it is constantly updated. It is not just an ‘annual’ survey. New participants enter their data throughout the year (and we review the data and then upload it). For a small annual cost, participants can then access the latest data whenever it is needed: budget time, staff appraisals, staff recruitment, and so on.  
 
When issuing the results, we assure full confidentiality: each participant is given a code and we always round the numbers of RACS places in each facility to the nearest 10.

Residential Aged Care, General Manager Position Available

THE HOME
In April 2020, PresCare will be opening its new, 96-bedroom residential aged care service in Corinda, 14km south west of Brisbane’s CBD.

The service will have a dedicated ground floor area for those living with Dementia and, spanning over 1.2 acres, will include: an “old English” style courtyard; coffee shop; and European inspired water features - the ‘pièce de résistance’ of this 4.5 star residence.
 
THE ROLE
The General Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the facility, ensuring the highest PresCare standard of residential care and achieving optimal business outcomes. This will be achieved through a commercial focus, managing risk and fostering mutually beneficial relationships with all key stakeholders in accordance with operational plans. PresCare is seeking to employ a General Manager who can ensure the highest standard of service delivery and outcomes within budget, complying with relevant legislation and care standards. This is a senior management role pivotal to the success of the organisation and is well supported by an Executive Manager of Residential Care and a dedicated Executive Team.
 
 What We Need
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or resource management and an excellent understanding of contemporary aged care practices.
  • Current Federal Police Check and ongoing reporting of any violations.
  • ‘Key Personnel’ acceptability according to The Aged Care Act (1997).
 Key Skills
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated in previous roles.
  • Proven analytical/problem solving skills and documentation skills.
  • Customer focused with strong skills in finding flexible and innovative solutions.
  • Previous aged care management experience (desired).
  • Considerable experience in a service industry with competing challenges
  • A strong understanding of the regulatory requirements of aged care, accreditation standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to communicate with the community as well as a variety of stakeholders. 
  • Proven competence in managing financial, capital and human resources.
  • Understanding of continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Have a genuine passion for aged care and be people focused.
 A great remuneration package is available for the successful applicant, with the potential for bonus.

This is achieved by building relationships with targeted stakeholders in the community, actioning local area marketing initiatives and ensuring the facility delivers quality service and standards. This is a senior management role pivotal to the success of the organisation and is well supported by a General Manager and a dedicated Executive Team. 

 What We Need
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or sales management and an excellent understanding of contemporary aged care practices.
  • Current Federal Police Check.
 Key Skills
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills covering Microsoft Office and Outlook with an ability to learn new systems.
  • Understanding of continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Ability to multi-task and make sound self-managed decisions.
  • Customer focused with strong skills in finding flexible and innovative solutions.
  • Ability to demonstrate to colleagues the importance of the role and how they can contribute to its effectiveness.
  • Superior networking, coaching and reporting skills.
  • Ability to assist other facilities over time in the maximisation of occupancy levels.
  • Ability to present to community and stakeholder groups to ‘sell’ the facility.
  • Demonstrated success in selling services.
  • Proven competence in managing financial and human resources.
  • Previous Aged Care Sales Management experience (desired).
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated in previous roles.
  • An understanding of Fees and Charges in Aged Care including RAD/DAPs and RAC/DACs.
  • Considerable experience in a service industry with competing challenges.
 A great remuneration package is available for the successful applicant, with the potential for bonus.
