RANGATAHI KI TE RANGATIRA

OUR YOUTH OUR FUTURE

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW GRADUATES!
Business partners and YOUth INSPIRE staff celebrate with our Licence to Work Graduates.
Offers of employment at Downer Group, HCC Hubs Walter Nash and Koraunui, Hutt Hospital, Countdown Wainuiomata, Randstad Education, Kotuku Cafe, and PTS Logistics ensured this Graduation was a huge success for our Rangatahi completing the Licence to Work programme.

Councillor Josh Briggs, long-time supporter of YOUth INSPIRE, congratulated the young people and handed out their certificates on behalf of the Mayor of Lower Hutt, Campbell Barry.
Excellence Award Winners: Josiah Sturmey from Taita and Elijah Maniapoto from Wainui.
The Excellence Awards recognise a Rangatahi from each center who has gone above and beyond, in class, in work experience, and in their personal lives. The Awards acknowledge the huge personal growth these individuals have undergone during the 14-week programme.
Josiah came to YOUth INSPIRE because Work & Income encouraged him to. As the weeks progressed, he demonstrated great teamwork and leadership in class and became a favourite member of staff at the Walter Nash where he completed his work experience.
Elijah always gave 100% in class and became someone the rest of the group relied upon for support. She proved herself a hard worker at Buzz Cafe where she completed her work experience, with owner Michael Gray saying, "We loved having Elijah with us."
INSPIRING STORIES
Jade Pope, newest member of the Hospital's Records Department with Team Lead Nigel Quinn.
Proving Work Experience Works! Success at work experience has led Jade to full-time employment at Hutt Hosptial's Records Department. Jade, who had to go through the usual recruitment process, secured the role because he had put into practice the competency skills taught in the Licence to Work programme, namely, demonstrating a Positive Attitude, Willingness to Learn, and great Team Work!

Team Lead, Nigel Quinn, says Jade listened, followed instructions and fitted in well with the team. "He demonstrates a great positive attitude and is very friendly and able to get on with all people, colleagues, peers and clinical staff.”

Congratulations Jade, the whole team at YOUth INSPIRE are so proud of your achievements.

Our Rangatahi celebrated last week gaining their Learner Licence. Nga mihi maioha ki ngā kaiarahi o te kaupapa nei! With your awhi and your tautoko, we have 14 legal learner drivers! This is a great step towards their employability skills. We need more volunteer mentors to help our Rangatahi on their next step towards their Restricted Licence.
