DECEMBER ENSEMBLE PRESHOW
Just prior to our Winter concert presentation on December 10th we are excited to offer a very festive atmosphere with food and holiday music in the 9th grade commons from 5:30-7:00 PM. Many of our student ensembles will perform some of your holiday favorites as our booster club volunteers offer you a chance to pre-order a meal for your family that evening. We all know December can get crazy busy in a hurry. Why not preorder a meal from TOF and return some sanity to your night? Meal options to preorder include:
     Option 1 - Chick fil a sandwich, chips, drink/soda
Option 2 - 10 pieces of Kimbap, cutie orange, drink

Pre-Order your meal here: https://forms.gle/BRsnqe9TsKJ1tZ9P6

POINSETTIA ORDERS
Again this year our booster volunteers will be decorating the stage for our event. If you would like to take home one of the beautiful poinsettia plants on 12/10 please see reservation form in the food "pre-order" link above. Plants are $10 each and are limited to the first 30 requests. All of the poinsettias ordered come from the Brookwood Community Center providing spiritual, educational & vocational opportunities for adults with special needs.

CONCERT GRADE
Please note that students' sign in time affects their concert grade as does their concert behavior throughout the performances. Our goal is to have everyone there on time supporting each other with their time and attention. As always, we do the best we can to keep our concert times to a minimum. Thanks so much for helping us with these goals.

SANTA COPS GOALS!
I am very happy to report that all of our classes reached their Santa Cops donation goals for our "adopted" Katy ISD students. Thanks to all our generous givers that helped us reach our goals. It is so inspiring to see what many of our students choose to give in order to help out their neighbor. What a blessing you all are.Special thanks to our orchestra officers headed out to purchase and wrap all of the gifts for these kiddos.

SYMPHONY STRINGS ON TOUR - HELP WANTED
Our Sinfonia and Sinfonietta orchestra will be on tour bringing holiday cheer to the Katy community on Friday, December 13th during the school day. We are looking for some parent chaperones for this day from both Sinfonia and Sinfonietta. If you are able to attend this trip with our fabulous students please email Mr. Porter ASAP. We will be off campus from approximately 8:45am to 1:30pm that day.

HOUSTON SYMPHONY UPDATE
Thank you all for your patience in waiting for a make-up solution for our cancelled Houston Symphony Concert in September. We officially are planning to use the January 17th performance of Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony as our make up date. If you purchased a ticket for the September concert but are not available the night of 1/17/20 please  let me know AND contact Jenny Zuniga at your convenience to arrange another ticketed performance date. jenny.zuniga@houstonsymphony.org

MAR
The next Monday afternoon rehearsal for Symphony Strings is December 9th from 3-5 pm. There is good chance we will end rehearsal a little early that day. :-)

INSTRUMENT PURCHASES
This is the time of year many orchestra parents think about purchasing and upgraded instrument for their child. Please be sure to confer with your child's private lesson teacher and myself before purchasing an instrument. We are here to help. A new instrument is not like purchasing a new car. There are no name brands and each instrument has it's own character. A solid upgraded student level instrument typically runs from $2000 up to $20,000 and there are many many things to consider before making a purchase. Please contact us directly for more information.

DISNEY BUY OUT
We have passed the deadline for ordering plane seats for our Disney trip. If are not able to attend and would like for another students to "buy out" your trip please let me know asap so we can make arrangements.

VIOLA TEACHER AVAILABLE
One of our veteran viola teachers is looking to fill a few open slots from graduating seniors this year. If you are interested in viola lessons please contact Becky Tompkins at your earliest convenience. violaonfire@gmail.com

FINAL EXAMS
Finals week is just a hop skip and a jump away. The orchestra final in the first semester consists of a performance from all of our assigned ensembles in each class. This performance grade counts as 15% of your child's semester average. If a student exempts the orchestra final then this performance grade counts simply as a test grade on the third six weeks. All other students not exempting this final will have an "EX" on this grade in Home Access.

Please subscribe to our Remind text update service at your earliest convenience if you have not already.
