Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season!
ICRAR has had a busy and productive 2019! We started our new 2019-2024 ICRAR III program in July (successfully concluding the 2013-2019 ICRAR II program), many of our staff and students were recognised for their excellence, and we held our ICRAR-con in September at Pullman Bunker Bay Resort.
ICRAR was recognised by the Astronomical Society of Australia for its commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in astronomical sciences and technology with Pleiades Awards for our nodes - Silver for Curtin University and Gold for UWA. Astrofest was a joint winner in the Premier’s Science Awards, and ICRAR authors have published over 130 papers since July this year.
As the year comes to a close, ICRAR is now looking forward to our long term future as part of the SKA Project and the international Astronomy, Engineering, and Data Intensive Astronomy community.
Thank you to all our collaborators and supporters for a great year. Enjoy our recent highlights and news, and see you in 2020!

APRIM2020 |
|
The 14th Asia-Pacific Regional IAU Meeting (APRIM) will be held in Perth in July 2020, jointly hosted by CSIRO and ICRAR.
We expect to welcome around 600 delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region. APRIM is a unique opportunity to present the latest astronomical and space research to a broad but regionally-focused audience, as well as make new connections and initiate new collaborations.
We encourage sponsors and exhibitors to register their interest.

SPIN DOCTORS: ASTROPHYSICISTS FIND WHEN GALAXIES ROTATE, SIZE MATTERS |
The direction in which a galaxy spins depends on its mass, researchers have found. A team of astrophysicists analysed 1418 galaxies and found that small ones are likely to spin on a different axis to large ones.
