From the Principal's Desk
It was just the other day when we wrote in our first newsletter of 2019 that we had started with the 2019 academic year. Now it is time to tell you that we are at the end of our academic activities. Our academic programme will end with the graduation ceremony happening on November 30. It has been a year full of exciting activities and challenges.
In my previous communication, I indicated that the building of the married student houses had begun. We praise the Lord that the He has brought this process to an end. The two buildings, with two two-bedroom units each, have now been completed. We give glory to God for this wonderful provision.
We started the third term well and ended it well. Our dear brother, Wes Spradley from the US, spent the whole term teaching at UBI. We continue to appreciate this person gift that the Lord has blessed UBI with for the past good number of years. Mr Spradley went back to the US towards the end of September, and is hoping to be back again in 2020. During the September school break, a team of eight second year students visited House of Joy Church in Bethal for a week. The students had opportunities to minister in various places like schools, SAPS stations, correctional services centers, etc. This was a successful outreach and we thank the Lord for it.
Our annual council meeting was held on October 11, 2019. Many of the member organizations attended this event and it was a fruitful meeting. We are grateful to the Lord for all the people who are committed to the welfare of our institution. In the middle of October, we hosted a team of four people who came to inspect our facility on behalf of the Council on Higher Education (a body that accredits higher education in SA). This was in relation of our re-accreditation application. Please pray with us as we await the final report on this evaluation.
A new Student Council was elected in October. This new student leadership has already been inducted and has started working. We thank the Lord for the outgoing Student Council – they served their fellow students with distinction. The final examinations will be written from November 20 – 25, 2019. We wish all the students and staff a full summer vacation.
