The library's decision to add HelpNow to our resources took into consideration a request from our Teen Advisory Board to add tutoring to library services.
Free online tutoring for grades 4- College. Tutors are available from 2 pm- 11 pm daily for Math, Writing, English, Science, and Social Studies, etc.
Skills-Building: to help you master an academic concept through expert tutoring and standards aligned online lessons.
24/7 Help Center: Submit a question and a tutor will provide you with a response (usually within 24 hours).
Foreign Language Lab: expert assistance and support for students who are learning a foreign language. Expert tutoring is currently offered for Spanish with more languages to come.
Writing Lab: HelpNow offers two types of writing assistance.
Live Writing Assistance: Connect with an online tutor for expert writing assistance with our live help feature.
Intensive Writing Lab: Offers thorough analysis of your paper. Within approximately 24 hours of submitting your paper, writing experts will review our paper and analyze on voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and organization to help you write the best possible paper
Study Tools - Practice Tests/quizzes for Standardized Test and subjects and Prepared Flashcards or create your own Flashcards
Collaborative Tools - Offers virtual meeting room to Collaborate with peers online and the option to record your activities using Brainwave for review later.
Mobile App - available for Andriod and Mac users

Join us for our annual holiday open house. Come enjoy some holiday goodies, cider, and hot cocoa. Holiday crafts, music and gingerbread decorating will be available for your entertainment!
Donations have started to come in for our Holiday Giving Drive for the Food pantry and senior dining. Donations can be made by individuals or businesses. You can either make a monetary donation or purchase items yourself and drop them off at the library. Thank you to those who have already donated. We are collecting items through December 13. Stop by the library and pick up an gift idea tag or idea list!

The Friends of the Library is selling tickets to The Playstation in Cedar Rapids for $5.00 each (regular admission is $9.99). Tickets admit 1 child, ages 1-15(adults are free). Tickets are good until April 30, 2020. Stop in the library to purchase tickets today.

The Wimpy Kid Party to celebrate the release of the latest book in the series, Wrecking Ball, was a hit. In the new book, Greg's family inherits some money and decides to do some remodeling. Things don't go quite as planned and Greg's family has to come up with a plan B. The book is currently available for checkout. Our party activities were construction themed to go along with the book's theme.
Toddler Story Time this month was lots of fun! This month our themes included construction and feathers!
Community Game night has been fun learning to play new games. This month a staff member from Dyersville Comics and Games joined us to introduce us to Dungeons & Dragons. A group of ladies tried out one of our new games Murder of Crows and some other patrons brought their own games to share! Bring your friends and family and join on the third Tuesday each month for some fun gaming!
The Arm Chair Traveler series continued this month. Dean Schwendinger spoke about his travels in Vietnam with his daughter and granddaughter. Ellen Strittmatter shared her culinary trip to Spain with us. A big thank you to Terry Smothers, Dean Schwendinger, and Ellen Strittmatter for taking the time to put together slide shows and come speak to us about their trips abroad. Also, thank you to everyone that attended our Arm Chair Traveler Programs!
