It’s Fall and, like the leaves, the Friendship Center is colorful and swirling.
Today is a usual Tuesday: Seedtime and Harvest gardeners sort seeds and prepare
to plant. Percy works on his glass mosaic in the Arts program. Tony takes vital
signs and fixes glasses in the Wellness Center, and Liz prints out enlarged
appointment details so Chris can see them. Will and John are among those getting
flu shots. Ashley settles a rowdy crowd down into their yoga session in the
chapel, while others enjoy a spirited game of bingo led by Tameka. Volunteers
serve hot chicken soup for lunch.
Today is also different: Our community is swirling as we await the arrival of a
new vicar of Holy Comforter. During this time of transition, many of us are
engaging at deeper levels than ever to keep our beloved Friendship Center
community thriving as a place where so many of us find a haven and peace.
And yet, amidst the swirl, we are calm. As much as any community anywhere -
with so many of us who have experienced mental illness, poverty, addiction - we
know where our help comes from. It comes from the Lord.
The Lord’s help comes in many ways. One of those ways is through the hands and
hearts of people like you.
Will you donate now to support the Friendship Center during this time of swirling
and hope?
Please make your donation to the Friendship Center today.
