Musical leadership in Sunday morning worship and Praise band is open to all. Participation in rehearsal and/or home practice by recording is expected. During daylight saving time, rehearsals will follow worship. Additional rehearsal may be scheduled as needed with Grayce by email music@debowsumc.org. Musical requests, original compositions and any instruments are welcome. DeBows has a very active music program, so please monitor the calendar on the church website often for music related events and activities.

DeBows is richly blessed with musical talent, and with a little help from our friends, has arranged several musical themed events throughout Advent & Christmas.  Please join us as we present the “Sounds of the Season”.

Thanks to Peter Jay & Friends.  They presented their Christmas: Here & Now concert on Sunday, December 8.  The concert was held in the Sanctuary and refreshments were served in Fellowship Hall during intermission.  It was a great event to help people get into the spirit of the season and a good time was had by all.  A free will offering was collected to support the Operation Christmas Child outreach ministry.  See picture of event below.

Still to come in December ...

Libby Prison Minstrels
Sunday, December 15 at 2pm
“The Season of the Nativity”

The Libby Prison Minstrels will present a free Christmas Concert, celebrating “The Season of the Nativity” on Sunday, December 15 at 2 pm. The concert will be held in Fellowship Hall. Following the concert will be a time of fellowship with hot soup & Christmas cookies. DeBows praise band member, Jim Kramer, also plays with the Libby Prison Minstrels. Any donations received will benefit the ministries of DeBows UMC.

Lessons & Carols Service
Sunday, December 22

At 9:30am on December 22, DeBows will present a Lessons & Carols Worship Service.  This is a service where scripture passages and hymns complement each other to help bring the story and message of Christmas to life.  If you would like to participate in the choir for this service, please contact Grayce and watch the church calendar for rehearsal times.

Bluegrass Christmas Carol Sing
Sunday, December 29

The December 9:30 AM Revival Service will take the form of a Bluegrass Christmas Carol Sing.  Come join us as we worship by singing some favorite Christmas Carols.  Following the service, since this is the fifth Sunday of the month, we will have a Christmas Brunch.  Christmas cookies anyone?

Bible Study

The Wednesday Bible Study is led by Pastor Denise and meets from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM in Fellowship Hall. There is an optional prayer time in the sanctuary at 11:15 AM, prior to the bible study.  Everyone is welcome to attend and may join the study at anytime.  The current topic of study is the Gospel of Mark.

NOTE: The 12/18 study will be the last one until 1/15/2020.

The regular print edition is $11 and large print is $13.50.  If enough books are ordered, we may be able to get free shipping. If anyone wishes to order a book, please see Anita Chichester or email your request to her as soon as possible so we can be assured of having the 2020 book to start the New Year.

Shop online until 1/8/2020
For those who would still like to order items, there is an opportunity to order online until 1/8/2020.  DeBows will still receive 40% of the total order amount and additional items are available online. Use the following information to place your orders.  Items ordered will be shipped directly to your home address.  Visit www.yankeecandlefundraising.com and enter Group Number 990057414 in the "Start Shopping" box.  Then shop for catalog and online exclusive items.
Grocery Shopping Cards

Every week during Fellowship Time, you have the opportunity to purchase grocery store shopping cards for either ShopRite or Stop & Shop.  This is a convenient way to pay for the food you buy at the grocery store and at the same time support the ministries of DeBows UMC.  The church makes 5% of all shopping cards sold. You may see Sue Hayward or Karen Stillwell to purchase the shopping cards on any Sunday.

"Thank You" to Tom Hornak for coordinating and to everyone that participated in the Holiday Gift Drive in support of the Children’s Home Society of Trenton. Gifts for 15 children were delivered to the Children’s Home Society on Tuesday, December 10.  They may be the only gifts some of these children will receive this Christmas. This is one way DeBows shares the love of Christ during this very special time of year.  A picture taken during the delivery can be seen below.  The DeBows contingent is on the right and two representatives from the CHS are in front of the tree.

Recyclable Greeting Cards for St. Jude’s
This mission supports St. Jude’s entrepreneurial teen-run job training program, which teaches teen’s critical employment skills so they are prepared to be productive, wage-earning citizens in the community when they leave St. Jude. Only the front of the card is used, so any donated cards must not have writing on the back of the front picture. Please note: they do not accept Hallmark, Disney or American Greeting Cards. Please keep this outreach activity in mind as you decide what to do with greeting cards you receive over the Christmas season. You may place any cards you have in the collection box outside of Fellowship Hall.

The DeBows Food Pantry is open on the 2nd & 4th Monday each month from 6:00-8:00pm.  If you would like to volunteer time to support this ministry, please see the sign-up sheet outside of Fellowship Hall.  You may contact Deb Cregle for more information.
Christ Child Gift
As in past years our special Christmas offering will be in the form of the "Christ Child Gift".  Special Christmas offering envelops will be found in the pews during worship on December 22 & Christmas Eve.  This special offering can be placed in the manger that will be located near the front of the sanctuary.  This year's Christ Child Gift will support the various ministries of DeBows.  "Thank You" for your generous support.
Event Cancellation Alerts
If weather adversely impacts any church related event, alerts will be posted on the church website and the calendar will be updated.  A special email distribution will also be sent out to notify people of any event cancellations etc.
