Women Giving Thanks
Thanksgiving is not a Polish holiday, but many churches in Poland organize events that have similar meaning. Last Saturday the women at our church enjoyed having a thanksgiving brunch! We started off with a delicious pumpkin soup, followed by healthy salads we made ourselves. The theme, “Give thanks and do not be anxious about tomorrow” inspired all of us to share with each other how we can focus on what we have instead of on what we lack in our lives. I was encouraged to see some new women at our meeting. Please pray that they would come back.
A World Venture Thanksgiving
Our World Venture Poland team met recently for a Thanksgiving retreat, complete with turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and apple and pumpkin pie. It was great to welcome two new short-term missionaries, and to hear everyone's stories of how God is working throughout Poland in church planting, Christian counseling, teaching English, leadership development, and theological training.
Giving Thanks for Polish Missionaries
We are thankful for Robert and Ela Boryczka, long-time Polish staff with Campus Crusade. They recently visited us with their daughter Patrycja, who is preparing for a two-year mission in Japan working alongside WorldVenture missionaries. Joel first met Robert 37 years ago, when Robert was a young student in the Crusade group in Krakow. Robert and Ela led a mission team that served in Rostov in Russia. Following their return to Poland they started the School of Missions, which trains Poles to serve more effectively as missionaries in other countries. Recently Robert also became pastor of the Baptist Church in Rabka.
