Interwoven: Annie Fenton – Heledd C. Evans

Interwoven

When two different threads of practice are Interwoven, something new is created.

Annie Fenton and Heledd C. Evans come together and collaborate to create a new installation, exploring how audio and visual work can exist simultaneously, transforming spaces and shaping experiences.

This new work explores the similarities between the two Artist’s practices and reflects their desires to create experiences in which their audiences can be part of. Through a series of events accompanying this piece, visitors are invited to come and engage with the work and observe how it changes over the course of the collaboration.

Annie Fenton

I am a recently graduated Cardiff-based Artist and am a current resident of INC space at CSAD. Through my work, I explore natural movements and structures in cloth and aim to create experiences that enhance our relationships with the material and space. Through site-specific installations, I examine the conflicts of domestic associations and want to draw attention to the moments where textiles meet other spaces. Interaction is at the heart of my work, and when audience engagement occurs, my work takes on another, deeper dimension.

Heledd C. Evans

I am a Cardiff-based Artist working with sound as my medium. Sound plays a huge part in our daily experience of the world yet it often drifts into the back of our minds, forgotten and unnoticed. I am interested in how we experience sound and the different aspects of it. Sound is incredibly physical – in its simplest form and its vibrations. Sound is palpable – you feel sound with your body, it inhabits our spaces and environments, and can instil a physical response in you. Yet sound is also incredibly bodiless and elusive. It has no physical or permanent form and you cannot grasp it in your hands. However, it can bring back distant memories, make you feel a full spectrum of emotions and can completely alter how we perceive spaces. I explore these themes within my practice, using a combination of found sounds, drone tones and recordings from my violin to create sonic diversions that change how we interact with our environments and hopefully, change how we think about sound.
