About the Poet: Eric Winter

Eric Winter was the Poet Laureate of the Town of Cobourg from July 21, 1997 to August 24, 2009 – twelve years. Much on the active poetry scene that now exists in Northumberland County is a legacy of Eric as Laureate, including the Cobourg Poetry Workshop —established in 2000 —and that group’s Third Thursday Reading Series, going strong continuously for 17 years.

Eric taught in high schools and universities in Britain, Australia and Canada – at McGill and “finally at York where I was Associate Dean and, ultimately, the Master of Atkinson College. If I make poetry, I must confess poetry made me.”
