History of
Citizens Ambulance Service
Established in 1978, Citizens Ambulance Service provides 911 advanced medical care, with paramedics standing by 24/7/365. We proudly service the communities under Vermilion River Ambulance District and Clarksfield Township.

As a small ambulance service, we exist primarily to provide 911 emergency advanced medicine to those in need around us. In an emergency, from advanced cardiac care to a trauma situation on our local highways, Citizens swiftly responds with trained paramedics and EMTs.

We are always striving to improve patient care and with your valued support, we can do so.

FEMA AFG Grant - UPDATE
Recently Citizens Ambulance Service applied for and received the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant. This grant was submitted by the Huron County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) on behalf of most of the fire departments and emergency medical service agencies in Huron County. The purpose of this initiative is to fund radio upgrades for multiple departments including Citizens Ambulance, Wakeman Fire, and Townsend Township Fire as well as many others.

What does this mean? These grant funds allow Citizens Ambulance Service personnel to have faster and more reliable communication with our dispatch center (the Huron County Sheriff's Office) and other departments. The radio upgrades will greatly improve interoperability and patient care through fast communication with other departments and resources when needed. Residents can rest assured knowing there will be no break in communication while on emergencies in the area.

Huron County departments are currently meeting to discuss the equipment choices and timeline for finalizing the project.
