This weekend I'm off to Yellowknife as one of the featured teachers! See website here. Exciting!

Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!
  • Regular dancing at Walnut Road School is cancelled on Thursday, December 5. Instead, you are welcome to visit and help teach dances to the 3rd Clover Ridge Brownies group from Girl Guides of Canada from 6:30-8pm at Don Christian Recreation Centre, 6220 - 184 Street. See event listing. 
  • Holiday Dance Party is Thursday, December 12, 7-10pm. Last dance session before the winter break. Bring finger-food to share and dress festive or wear an ethnic costume if you like. We dance to a prepared playlist created from your requests!
  • New Year's Eve Dance Party at Dale's house, 16479 - 92A Ave, Surrey, 7pm to midnight, Dec 31. Bring snacks and beverages to share. Request dancing all evening!
  • Dancing resumes on January 9, 2020, 7-10pm.

BIFD Holiday Dance Party

Tuesday, December 3 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Join Burnaby folk dancers for their party! Bring finger-food to share and wear an ethnic costume if you like. Dance to a prepared playlist created from BIFD dancers' requests! The evening begins at 6:30pm with the Basic Steps program which introduces dancers to common folk dance steps, as well as a few of the dances that are on the dance program that evening. Pirates Band will play a set of 6 dances. Party starts at 7:10pm and the evening ends at 10pm. Drop-in is $5. Your first time dancing at BIFD is free. Event listing is here.

We will be designing a new dance demonstration program for the 2019/20 dancing season. Have ideas? Contact me. As usual, the dances should span the globe, be varied, and not be too difficult.

Location: Squalicum Yacht club, 2633 S. Harbor Loop Drive, Bellingham, WA 98225
Party starts at 7:30pm and runs to 10pm.  There is a $15 donation requested.

The Squalicum Yacht club is the smaller of the two Yacht Clubs side by side on S. Harbor Loop Drive. (South Harbor Loop Drive is connected in a circle with North Harbor Loop Drive.)

How to get there:

From the North, go South on I-5, take the Meridian Street Exit and turn right. From Meridian, take the 3rd right (2nd traffic light) onto Squalicum Way. Follow Squalicum Way and it will merge onto Roeder Street. Shortly thereafter, there will be signs for Squalicum Harbor and Coho Way. Take a right onto Coho Way. The very first possible right turn which is identified with a street sign "N. Harbor Loop Drive", take that right and at the end of that very short road you are in a parking lot. If you would turn left you will see the Squalicum Yacht Club in front of you.

From the South, you can take Holly Street through town to "F" Street. Turn left onto F street toward the water and across the train tracks to Roeder. Turn right onto Roeder Ave Continue on Roeder to Coho Way (City Mac Store) Turn Left onto Coho Way. The first possible right is "N. Harbor Loop Drive". Take that right and drive that short "road" to the end, and turn left into the parking Lot. The small building in front of you is the Squalicum Yacht Club.
