Join in for the Deep Freeze Byzantine Winter Festival

Deep Freeze Byzantine Winter Festival returns to Alberta Avenue (118 Ave, between 90 & 95 St.) for their 11th year, January 11 & 12. Join us Under the Frozen Sea and celebrate Edmonton's cold northern climate with an artistic panache of authentic cultural and heritage winter games and family fun! 

Deep Freeze is currently accepting applications for volunteers, tourtière baking contest, street hockey teams and the signature Deep Freezer Races. 
Tourtière Baking Contest 
Prep your pans because we are on the look-out for the best tourtière! Prizes awarded for the top three tourtière. Apply online before Thursday, January 11th, 2020 at 4:00pm. Think about prepping your freezer when when you do your annual holiday baking. Good luck and may the best tourtière win!

Deep Freezer Races 
Cool Runnins' Deep Freezer race returns for 2020! Yep, that’s right – teams of 5 race deep freezers on skis across the finish line to winter glory. Get your team together and enter online. While you are building your dream team, don’t forget your helmets as they are mandatory for racing.

3x3 Street Hockey
Truly, street hockey fun at its best. Teams of 4 - 7 players can sign up for our friendly weekend tournament. Guaranteed 5 games, players must be 18+. 
The tournament takes place Saturday, January 11th and Sunday January 12th on 118th Ave from 90-95 street. Enter at your own risk. All team members must sign a waiver.

Deep Freeze Byzantine Winter Festival is a free family event uniting Ukrainian, Franco-Albertan, Franco-African, First Nations, Chinese, Latin American, and Acadian/East Coast communities to taste, share and experience the Olde New Year. Deep Freeze 2020: Under the Frozen Sea features a variety of free activities, including live music, world cuisine, dance, wagon rides, ice games, storytelling, giant ice slide, maker workshops, fireworks, an artisan market and gallery, and much more.
