ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT TO VOTE IN THE 2019 PROVOST'S INNOVATION CHALLENGE.
VOTE NOW

Trinity is once again calling on the College community to vote in the 2020 Provost’s Innovation Challenge @ Tangent. The Challenge is an annual event encouraging Trinity students to be independent thinkers who will make a real world impact through this exciting initiative.

Each year, the initiative begins with the Provost setting a number of societal problems for the college community – students, staff, and alumni - to vote on. The voting for this year’s Challenge will close on December 15 2019 – so please have your say today

The winning problem, based on the votes gathered, will be announced in Hilary Term, with a call for students to begin to explore the problem outlined and to identify and offer real-world solutions. Students can get involved in the challenge as a team (4-5 people) or as an individual, and the winning solution will be awarded a place on LaunchBox, Tangent’s Student Accelerator, to progress their idea.

Last year, the Trinity community voted for Homelessness, and our Hacking Homelessness event so over 50 students coming up with 8 potential solutions to the Dublin homeless crisis. Two teams from the Challenge took part in LaunchBox 2019: Aquahomes, a rapid housing solution that upcycles decommissioned rescue boats into homes for single people and couples; and Way Home, a solution to the decrease in donations to the homeless our increasingly cashless society has wrought. Aquahomes came third overall on LaunchBox Demo Day.
