Blackheath High Junior girls hold their own special election

On Thursday 12 December, Blackheath High Juniors held their own special election whilst the rest of the country went to the polls to decide our future government. Some of our Year 5 and 6 girls had teamed up to form four different parties, each with a different agenda.

Year 6 make professional decorations with a laser cutter

Last year the BHSA kindly donated a laser cutter to the Junior School. Once again this has allowed Year 6 pupils to design and make professionally finished decorations for sale at the Christmas Fair.

The Junior School supported Children in Need on Friday 15 November. As House Captains, we held an assembly to the whole of the Junior School to explain the meaning of charity and to show how money raised helped children less fortunate than us.

Making Christmas decorations in STEAM Club
This week in STEAM club, the girls fully embraced the Christmas festivities and their creative sides. The addition of ‘art’ in STEAM really emphasises the importance of creativity and the capacity to think outside the box that’s needed to approach STEM subjects.

An Inspirational maths trip for Year 12
On Thursday 5 December, girls in Year 12 taking maths A Level had the opportunity to attend a Maths Inspiration lecture in London. The lecture consisted of three fun, interactive and engaging talks about how maths is used in many different aspects of life.

Girls teach their parents how to code in 'Hour of Code'
This December, parents were invited into their daughter’s Computer Science lesson to learn how to code! Over 60 parents signed up and adults from many different backgrounds came into LG4 for some fun coding.
