Staff on Site

Staff volunteers from Homes for Haringey helped revamp an employment support hub, community hall and kitchen for Staff on Site – Homes for Haringey’s annual staff volunteering day.

The outside of the Project 2020 employment support hub in the shadow of the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium in Northumberland Park got a new lick of paint on the outside. The external area also got a deep clean to help make it more welcoming for locals needing help to find a job.

Elsewhere, the Russell Road temporary accommodation hostel saw its community hall and kitchen transformed. The week before Staff on Site, the hostel got a make over from Homes for Haringey’s repairs team and on the day itself Homes for Haringey staff painted and cleaned the inside.

Preventing damp this winter

Damp is the most comment problem in all homes during the winter months, with the main offender being condensation.

Condensation can lead to mould growth, which can be potentially harmful and lead to serious health issues and breathing difficulties.

To reduce condensation – and therefore the chances of mould - in your home:
  • If you have a washing machine or tumble dryer, make sure that it is vented correctly.
  • Where possible, try to dry your clothes outdoors to prevent excess moisture from building up in your property.
  • When cooking food, boiling the kettle or taking a shower, ensure that your kitchen or bathroom door is kept closed.
  • Do not overfill your wardrobes or kitchen cupboards. A lack of ventilation and air moisture trapped in warm overfilled cupboards can become a breeding ground for mould.
