On Thursday, December 5th-
Looking for a way to give back around the holidays? We invite you to help care for land in the Red Cliffs NCA by participating in an ongoing habitat restoration project. We’ll be weeding and mending cages so that hundreds of young, transplanted desert plants can survive. In 2005, thousands of acres of desert vegetation were burned in a severe wildfire. Today, CSU supports the BLM and UDWR in working to reintroduce native plants that provide food and shelter for the threatened Mojave Desert Tortoise, the Gila monster and a wide variety of desert wildlife.

2 pm: Meet in the Red Cliffs NCA Habitat Restoration Plots located off of Cottonwood Springs (Old Dump) Road.
We'll work with UDWR biologists to pull invasive weeds from around the bases of young transplants. We'll also mend the cages that protect these plants from herbivory (being eaten by deer, rabbits and rodents).

Please wear sturdy walking shoes that you don't mind getting dirty (it could be muddy). Bring drinking water and dress in warm layers.

** Current weather predictions show that Thursday will be cloudy with a high of 48 F.  However, if we receive unexpected precipitation (rain or snow), the service project will be cancelled. Regardless of weather, the party will still be on! **

4 pm: Weed pull ends
Make any necessary pit stops, then head over to the Conserve Southwest Utah office for the party!
