Where we are and where we have been:

Windhoek, Etosha and Northern Namibia
Namibia is full of amazing scenery. We literally took thousands of pictures in the vast desert landscapes. And we finished off our trip through Southern Africa with relaxed days in its capital Windhoek and a safari in Etosha National Park.
In Windhoek, we prepared the next steps of the trip and applied for the visa for Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC/Congo Kinshasa) and the Republic of the Congo (Congo Brazzaville) - and got them all within four days!!
Namibia's Northwest, the Kaokoveld, is home of the Himba people who live a very simple, traditional life and who were instantly willing to show us one of their villages.
From there, we entered Angola!

Angola
We spent 3.5 weeks in Angola. We were impressed by the friendly people, the tropical (hot and humid!) climate and the abundance of avocado and mango!
Although, the civil war ended only recently and the economical situation is tough these days, the country is opening up for tourists slowly. The beautiful country with its amazing people deserves many visitors in the future!
In the capital Luanda, we managed to receive, the sometimes difficult to get, visa for Nigeria in only a couple of hours, wohoo! And we went surfing again, just us in the waves on an empty beach!
Check out the pic to download at the end of the newsletter - typical scene in Angola.

Quick ride through the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Due to the geographic position in the West (tucked between Angola and Republic of the Congo) and the political situation in the East, we only spent three days in DRC.
We took a quite challenging but not too hard road through the mountains, crossed the famous Congo river on a small ferry and entered the Republic of the Congo.
The people in DRC were friendly everywhere, and very patient with our small French "skills". Although it had rained the night before, Willie took the dirt roads without a problem, and luckily we didn't get stuck in one of the many deep, muddy sections.

The Republic of the Congo
Our first stop in RoC has been its capital Brazzaville. We applied for the visa for Cameroon, and now are waiting for a couple of days to pick it up.
Willie gets its regular maintenance, we do some sightseeing, practice our French and try not to melt in the hot and humid climate - rainy season has begun!
