  • Monday, December 16:  Gifts/donations must be returned to the office
  • Wednesday, December 18:  Distribution begins
OPPORTUNITIES for a holiday donation:
  • Wildcat Giving: This is a gift program aimed at helping West Woodland families.  Many families feel stress over the holidays.  Common causes are financial stress, job loss, divorce, relocation, illness, etc.  We want to ensure that all West Woodland families have a special holiday.  We take requests from families and turn them into tags on our Giving Wildcat.  This program is 100% confidential---there are no names attached to the tags.
GREEN tags are specific items that have been requested.  For these, please sign the tag out at the main office sign-up sheet, purchase the gift, and return it unwrapped to Disney Bayot in the office.

YELLOW tags are for gift cards of local stores that are most requested and will be distributed across the families.

*Based on feedback from last year, there are also items available on an Amazon wishlist.  Please try to remember to use your Amazon Smile account to contribute even further.
  • Partner School Giving:  West Woodland is one of the top ten schools in Seattle for family contributions.  Many schools are not as fortunate, and we'd like to share our generosity with another elementary school in the north end.  *Northgate Elementary is our partner school and is taking donations to fund their PTO/PTA.
BLUE tags go to Northgate Elementary.  For these tags you will find a link to the Northgate PTO Website where you can donate with Debit Card, Credit Card or Paypal. The PTO supports: Teacher grants, various scholarships, purchases for what is needed for students in need (eye glasses, coats, shoes, groceries, etc.) and much more.

*Why Northgate Elementary? Northgate’s family population is currently 25% homeless/doubled up and about 78% have free and reduced lunch services.  Their diverse community represents 28 languages.  Many of their students present with a lot of need.  The PTO provides various services to support the school and those in need.

There are many ways you can contribute during this season, please keep in mind that the Wildcat Giving Program is completely optional.  Thank you for your participation and generous spirit of giving to others!

Please reach out to the Wildcat Giving Team for any questions:  Parents Tracy Graber at tkitaeff@gmail.com and Heather Hagle Leneway at hmhagle@gmail.com.

Thank you!
Math Night was a Huge Success
What a fun and engaging Math Night!

Thanks for attending. It was great to see so many kids and adults using their math fluency reasoning to solve esti-mysteries and summit challenges, to use spatial reasoning to solve cube problems, and logical reasoning to solve math and chess challenges.

It was a night of inquiring minds and lots of smiles! We love math!
Update!
LGBTQ Dinner Update
The LGBTQ2+ annual dinner was a fun event and West Woodland was well represented with 31 people including parents, current and former students, as well as staff.

Students from Pathfinder K-8 and Nathan Hale High School spoke about the importance and urgency of LGBTQ2+ rights and recognition within our public school system and shared their stories. Dr. Keisha Scarlett, chief of equity, partnerships, and engagement, also spoke to the crowd about the importance of this event, celebrating diversity in our school district, and centering equity in our work together. Families in attendance were also entertained with a vocal performance from Diverse Harmony, the nation’s first queer-straight alliance youth chorus, based here in Seattle.

Throughout the night, families had the opportunity to learn from community organizations such as Camp Ten Trees, Seattle Public Libraries, The NW Network, Lambert House, and the Health Education Office, and talk with other families, staff, and community partners who celebrate them each and every day.

More Ways to Support West Woodland
Ways to Shop for West Woodland
As you shop for gifts and food this season, there are simple ways to make your routine purchases become donations to our school. We like to call it “Shopping for West Woodland”!  Corporations will donate a percentage of what you purchase from them to West Woodland. Confused? No need to be, see the directions below.

Fred Meyer Rewards
Do you use your rewards card every time you shop at Fred Meyer?  Now using your rewards card can mean a donation to our school!  Fred Meyer is donating $2.5 million annually through their Community Rewards program.  Sign up at: fredmeyer.com/communityrewards.  At their website, you can apply for a rewards card.  If you already have one, you can link your rewards card to charitable giving. We have enrolled our non-profit entity under the name of “West Woodland PTA”.
Helpful hints:
  • From the website, click on Fred Meyer Rewards
  • Sign into your account or create a new account
  • Click bottom right on Community Rewards
  • At “Find Your Organization” type in “West Woodland PTA”
  • Choose “West Woodland PTA”
Go to the bottom of the page and save your choice

Ballard Market Receipts
Ballard Market will donate 1% of each receipt total to the school. If you shop at Ballard Market, just save your receipts and deposit them in the box located near the front doors of the building by the elevator.
Helpful hints:
  • We only get money from Ballard Market, not Central Market
  • Don't fold or crumple receipts
  • Lie flat and rubber band them together
Amazon Smile
Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice. AmazonSmile has the same products, prices, and service as regular amazon.com. Support West Woodland by starting your shopping at smile.amazon.com. When you go to the website, they ask you to choose your charity. Search for “West Woodland PTA” and designate it as your charity. It’s as easy as that.
Helpful hint:
When buying something on Amazon, make sure you go through the AmazonSmile website, instead of the regular site. Your donation makes a difference!

General Mills Box Tops for Education
General Mills Box Tops donates 10 cents per label.  If you purchase products with a Box Top for Education, just cut out the Box Tops and deposit them in the box located near the front doors of the building by the elevator. For a complete list of products go to www.btfe.com.  At the website, click on “Box Tops Products” on the lower right side. You can also now download the Box Tops for Education app and scan your receipts www.boxtops4education.com
Helpful Hints:
  • Cut out along dotted lines (it doesn't have to be perfect, but please trim)
  • Make sure that coupons are NOT expired
