JRC's 39th Annual Meals on Wheels Christmas Dinner
Wednesday, December 25

Every year, JRC provides a Christmas dinner for housebound clients of Durham Meals on Wheels. We will need many, many volunteers to provide food, assemble, and deliver meals. The success of this event depends on teamwork and your donations! If you haven't yet, sign up today!

As of early December, we still need more people to cook donated turkeys, and a few more frozen turkeys. Questions? Contact Helene Bosworth at 919-361-2727 or Jane Carnathan at jcarnathan@yahoo.com.
Mitzvah Project Fair
Sunday, December 8 at 11:00am

Youth, Education, & Family Engagement (YEFE) and the Social Action Committees are excited to present a Mitzvah Project Fair. We would love to hear about the B'nei Mitzvah project your 8th – 12th grade child(ren) completed. The Fair is for 5-7th grade students.

For the fair and beyond, we are organizing a list of projects that have been done previously to inspire 5-7th grade students and provide ideas of organizations to contact as they prepare to do their own Mitzvah project! Please fill out - or preferably have your child fill out - THIS short google form to help us. Questions? Contact Deana Nelkin at mrsdeanan@yahoo.com.

Judea Reform forms part of this powerful coalition in this annual march for justice, equality and fighting poverty at its systemic roots, making our voices heard at the state level. Stay tuned for more details about carpooling and pre-march shabbat service. https://naacpnc.org/hkonj-peoples-assembly-coalition/.

Sun, Feb 23 - Mitzvah Day
At our annual Mitzvah Day, congregants participate in and learn more about JRC’s non-profit partners and our shared commitments to feed the hungry, lift up refugees and immigrants, shelter those who need housing, heal those who are sick, and help repair the world. Activities are appropriate for school age to senior members, and people of all abilities. Stay tuned for ways to contribute, volunteer and participate in this fun, community-wide day of service.

Be on the look out: In partnership with another organization or congregation, Judea hopes to serve as a Welcome Team for an incoming refugee family in early 2020. This will mean furnishing and setting up an apartment, and stocking the pantry for a family arriving in the US. We will need furniture, furnishings, food, muscle and a bit of money. We'll let you know what we need when we know who is coming and when! This will be the seventh apartment we've readied in the past three and a half years.
