Weekly PTO Bulletin

Important This Week:.

"First Tuesday" Coffee with the PTO
Tuesday, December 3rd from 8 - 9 AM in Driscoll's Amy Neale Library
Please join us for our next "First Tuesday" Coffee with the PTO on Tuesday, December 3rd.  This month we will be talking about math (but don't worry, there won't be a test)!  Did you know that some classes at Driscoll are part of a pilot program that will help determine how math is taught across the entire district?  Our guests will be Kathleen Hubbard (Math Curriculum Coordinator) and Jenna Laib (Math Specialist at Driscoll), as we discuss how our children learn about math and the current Math Program Review.
Science Solstice is this Friday!
DRISCOLL SCHOOL has it’s Annual SCIENCE SOLSTICE this Friday December 6, 2019!  The entire school participates is this amazing science filled and fun day.

K-5 students will stay at school and be “wow’ed” by presentations and do hands-on science activities about “Motion, Force and Work” or “Life Cycles” or live creatures!

Grades 6-8 students  will go off site and visit a local research lab or facility. These field trips both pique students’ interest in science and expose them to different careers in science and technology.

Middle school students should bring a bag lunches on that day (except Biogen and Rubius field trips).

Driscoll Book Fair
The "One World, Many Stories" Driscoll Book Fair is almost here! From December 9-13, the library will be filled with books for purchase (for your students, for teachers' classrooms, and even some for adult readers). Come in before, during, or after school to shop and support our library. Also, Dr. Talukdar will be reading a story during a special event on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 5-7 pm.

Thanks to all who have signed up for volunteers. We need even more support, especially on Friday, Dec. 13, so please sign up here if you can: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0f4eadae28a0fe3-driscoll2

Congratulations again to the Book Fair poster contest winners, Hugh in 1C and Sara-Anne in 5S and thanks to all the student artists who entered. See you all in the library soon!

From the Amy Neale Library

The book fair is next week, December 9-13th!  Daily hours will be 7:45-3:00 M-Th, 7:45-2:00 Friday.  There will be a special evening event on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 5-7pm, featuring storytime with Dr. Talukdar.  There are still a few volunteer slots open; click here for the Sign Up Genius. To see when your child’s class will visit the bookfair, click here.

Once again this year, the Book Fair will be running the Driscoll Loves Books initiative in the hopes of making new books accessible to all families. While the Book Fair is meant to encourage reading and raise funds for our library, we understand that this time of year comes with lots of expenses and that not every family is able to purchase books from the book fair.  Driscoll Loves Books is an initiative supported by the Driscoll Family Giving campaign.
Our vendor has an excellent selection of books this year, including DSBA nominees.  Thank you for supporting this important fundraiser for the library, which makes author visits, new books and the DSBA all possible!

Happy Reading!   Ms. Reid, Librarian  anne_reid@psbma.org
