December 2019 Newsletter
Wow! Have I had a month of memories! As many of you know, I was born in Cleveland OH and we moved to Tucson AZ in the late 1960's. I had not been back for 50 years. Since I had my daughter with me to help with Toledo Doll Show Nov. 17th, I decided that I'd like to stay an extra day and visit my old neighborhood and show her how I grew up. I had always thought back on my days in OHIO as cloudy, hazy and gloomy. The weather did not disappoint there. It was just as I remembered. We found the house and all I could think of was how could that big kitchen fit in that small house. It appeared in good repair with the front porch, where we used to play house all summer, filled in and made into a "mud room". We didn't stay long as Jessika didn't want to people to think we were stalkers. She was amazed at how narrow the tree lined streets were. No wonder our parents had no problem letting us go across the street to hang out and play with our neighbors.
We also found the little park that we used to ride our bikes to that was about 4 streets to the south. Of course, in my head, it seemed about about 5 times bigger. There was a little drainage ditch that we used to play in. Again, I remembered almost a river, now just a little trickle of crystal clear water.
After lunch, we went to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. There is nothing like music to take you back to your younger years! If you ever have a chance to see it, it is worth it but be sure you have at least 4 - 5 hours!
We are well into our holiday season but looking ahead to spring. I know I sound like a broken record but please check the site to be sure your favorite event is listed. There aren't many events in December but come January and February, you will find quite a bit more. Please keep in mind that promoters, both private and organizational, and sellers, all work diligently getting ready to put on the best event they can for you Be sure you take a moment and tell them how much you appreciate them. A little kindness goes a long way.
