Report Back: Winter Plenary in Santa Barbara

Over 100 CalWEP members and partners joined us in Santa Barbara last week for our final Plenary of 2019.

With a focus on outdoor efficiency programs and strategic partnerships with NGOs like Daily Acts and Ecology Action, presentations were as inspiring as they were informational. We heard from Peter Brostrom of DWR about the recent updates related to implementation of SB 606/ AB 1668. Eagle Aerial co-founder, Wayne Tate, gave attendees a sneak peak at the landscape measurement QA portal that all urban agencies will have access to once their landscape measurements are complete. We ended the day with an in-depth look at the various landscaper training programs that exist across the state through a dynamic panel of experts and practitioners. Members can access all the presentations through MyCalWEP.

And what's a CalWEP Plenary without ample networking opportunities? Rachio and WaterWise Consulting sponsored two incredible evenings of connections, and a talented group of CalWEP members rocked out on our sunset cruise following the Plenary. Thanks to everyone who attended and special thanks to the CalWEP Members of Santa Barbara County for hosting such an incredible Plenary!

AWE's Response to President Trump's Statement on WaterSense Roll-Backs

Earlier this month, President Trump announced at a Business Leader Roundtable Meeting that he has tasked the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate the efficacy of water efficiency standards for toilets, showerheads, and faucets in the United States. The national water efficiency community is understandably concerned about what might happen.

Read a statement from AWE President and CEO Mary Ann Dickinson about where things stand and how the Alliance plans to move forward.

However, it is important to note that six states have now enacted their own water efficiency standards (California, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, New York, and Nevada) and even if the federal standards were to be repealed by Congress, these states still would have their own legislated or regulatory standards in place.

Practical Plumbing Handbook en Español

The long-anticipated Spanish version of our popular Practical Plumbing Handbook has been printed!  The more orders we get, the lower our price will be to members. The difference in pricing between the English and Spanish versions of the handbook is due to the cost of translation.

We estimate the cost to members will be between $3 and $5 per book.  Pricing will include taxes.  Shipping and handling will be additional.

The English version is, of course, also available for order. Visit CalWEP's website to place your order today or email Michael Walker with inquiries.
