An End of Year Message
From Our President

Dear Friend,

At Spaulding for Children, our motto is “Stronger Families Build Stronger Communities.” We believe the soundness of a community depends upon the physical and mental health of each of its members. We measure this by the stability of a community’s families and by the well-being of their children.

We would like to ask for your help to help us continue our work as a not-for-profit child welfare agency.

Over the past 51 years, we have sustained our commitment to the success of our families and children while holding ourselves to the highest standard of integrity.

Our partnerships with volunteers, donors and organizations that embrace our values, have strengthened our families – and the community. Together we accomplished much this past year:
  • We kept children from entering foster care by teaching and supporting their parents to safely care for them in their homes;
  • We supported and empowered families to overcome their challenges and eliminated safety concerns so that their children could be safely reunited with them;
  • We found permanent families for children and youth who needed one; they are now thriving in the care of their adoptive families;
  • We provided scholarship funds to support foster youth interested in higher education;
  • Through grant projects, we created products and materials to equip families caring for children with a history of trauma;
  • We provided mentoring support for foster youth.
Yet the need for our services continues to grow. This year nearly 900 children were referred to the agency for placement. Nearly 60 children entered our foster care program and we served 160 families including prospective and existing foster and kinship families. And we can do more!

Spaulding for Children is a national leader in developing and providing resources and training for foster and adoptive families and those who serve and support them. Started in 1968 with the belief that every child is adoptable, Spaulding brought attention to foster children with special needs. Today Spaulding provides research-based training and education for those interested in becoming adoptive and foster parents. Spaulding for Children programs include assistance, training, and mentoring for parents to promote the well-being of the most vulnerable children.

We are asking for your support so we can sustain and expand Spaulding’s impact. Together we will help build even stronger families and stronger communities in the coming years.

You can donate online at www.spaulding.org or by mail at Spaulding for Children, 16250 Northland Drive, Suite 120, Southfield, MI 48075.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Cristina Peixoto
