Homeschool Highlights

Mosaic Model UN in Montréal

The atmosphere of Model United Nations (Model UN) conferences is something indescribable. As an extracurricular activity that draws together students from across the world, Model UN is a diplomatic competition that involves the simulation of international or national organizations. Students represent countries or officials in different committees, debating and devising solutions to global issues. As the Mosaic Model UN (MOSMUN) delegation, we have been the only homeschool team in the Granite State since our inception in 2014. Since then, we have attended 10 conferences across the Northeast and Canada, and our delegates’ hard work has earned us numerous awards. This past November, we packed our bags and headed to the Secondary Schools’ United Nations Symposium (SSUNS), McGill University’s high school conference in Montréal, Canada.

Encouragement From a Veteran Homeschooling Mom

As homeschoolers and parents, it's natural to have doubts and worries about our children and their educational journeys. Take heart! Linda Scott, veteran homeschooling mom, has a message of encouragement and support for you.

To all those parents who are worn out, who have to prod their kids to get their work done, who are confused about what curriculum to choose, who have neighbors challenging their qualifications, who think that they aren't doing enough/doing it right I say KEEP GOING, you are doing great!! I home schooled 2 kids through high school and the third until she went to a charter high school- I always felt I was falling short.

Help Homeschoolers Feed the hungry This Thanksgiving

Granite State Home Educators own Amanda Weeden shares how her homeschool family spends Thanksgiving.
Each Thanksgiving, our church, True Memorial Baptist, ministers to hundreds of hungry men, women, and children from Rochester and the surrounding communities.
We transform our Fellowship Hall into a restaurant, with beautiful table settings, a menu, and waitstaff. We treat each person with dignity and care. We send guests home with extra food and ingredients.
We take orders of roughly 200 people in surrounding towns who, for whatever reason, cannot make the trip to join us at the church. Hot, fresh Thanksgiving dinner is delivered to their door by volunteers.
Some guests are homeless. Some guests are lonely. Some guests don't have the funds to put on a full dinner. Some guests are too overcome with grief to face the holiday without someone they lost. Some guests are elderly and homebound. Some are too sick to drive. Whatever the reason, we are blessed to serve each person.
If any of these descriptions are you, JOIN US.
If any of these descriptions are someone you encounter, INVITE THEM.
Please call True Memorial at 332-3131 to sign up. You can sign up for one shift, or more. We are simply blessed to serve with others from our community!
