[PROVIDENCE, RI, December 16, 2019] The Rhode Island Democratic Women's Caucus sent the following open letter to the national delegation of Rhode Island in the United States Congress:
Dear Senator Reed, Senator Whitehouse, Congressman Langevin, and Congressman Cicilline,
As the United States House of Representatives prepares to vote on articles of impeachment, the Rhode Island Democratic Women's Caucus wishes to thank all of you in our national delegation for your efforts to uphold the rule of law. We recognize and respect the profound responsibilities you have during this serious and somber time period in American history.
We are deeply concerned about the future of democracy in our country. The 2020 election will be one of the most significant ones we have all experienced. As a local Democratic organization, we want to take this time to express our mutual goals of electing more Democrats into office and regaining control of the White House. We look forward to working with you, and all the members of the Democratic Party, in our shared vision of upholding democracy at the local, state, and national levels.
We offer our sincerest support to you during this grave moment in history. Like you, we strongly believe in a government that works for all of the people, and one that is free of corruption and cronyism. We honor the work you have done to protect the Constitution of the United States and the institution of democracy.
