Credit Recovery or Getting Ahead
1st semester is coming to a close and some of you may unfortunately be in danger of not passing a required course, or it may be that you're interested in earning additional credit(s) by taking a course slated for your 2020-21 schedule. Whichever between these two categories fits you best, AVA (Atlanta Virtual Academy) is the answer.

AVA's spring semester application and course offerings are now available HERE.
You'll need to see your assigned counselor for registration and enrollment.

Here are your counselors:
Dr. Blankenship for 10-12th graders last names A-F
Mr. Young for 10-12th graders last names G-M
Ms. Falcone for 10-12th graders last names N-Z
Ms. Blevins-Pellechia for all 9th graders

Dual Enrollment
1. All students must have the Grady Dual Enrollment Agreement signed by the student and guardian, then return it to Mr. Young or your assigned counselor.
2. All students must have the 2020 SPA (Student Participation Agreement) signed by the student and guardian.
3. In getting your 2020 SPA complete, you must have an idea of which course(s) you're going to take. To find all of the approved college courses for high school students, visit: https://apps.gsfc.org/securenextgen/dsp_accel_course_listings.cfm   Once you're on the page, select Term Spring and your college from the drop down menus.
4. You must meet with your assigned counselor so your courses can be written on your SPA, as well as to discuss how dual enrollment will affect your Grady schedule.
5. You're to take your completed SPA to your college for registration.
6. You're to submit a copy of your college schedule to your assigned counselor.

Also here are some updates...
1. For all new students enrolling with ATC, there will be a mandatory orientation on Tuesday December 10 5pm at Atlanta Technical College Auditorium 1560 Metropolitan Parkway SW Atlanta, GA 30310. If you have questions, contact ATC's office at 404.225.4551 or hsadmissions@atlantatech.edu
2. The courses offered with our on-campus ATC Early College Essentials program will be Psychology 1101 and Public Speaking 1101.
3. For our on-campus program with Georgia State University, CampusX, there will be an orientation held on Friday January 10 here at Grady. The courses offered will be Media Culture & Society 2050 and Criminal Justice 1100.

Student and Parent Input Needed
Grady's attendance and student support teams need input from students and parents to help improve on time arrival to school. Each week about 450 students are late to school, impacting instruction for all students.  On time arrival to school will be especially important as student parking will be limited starting in January due to construction.  Complete this survey to help us address this problem.

Grady High School Foundation
OUR STUDENTS THRIVE FROM THE DIRECT SUPPORT OF OUR GRADY FAMILIES!
Hopefully you’ve received one or more communications from the Grady Foundation this school year. We need your help to achieve our fundraising goal for this year: $150,000. We’ve already had a number of donations from Grady families, reflecting their deep commitment to ensuring that Grady students benefit from a truly extraordinary educational experience. As Dr. Bockman can attest, the Foundation plays a critical role in making that a reality.  As you may have heard, next year our 9th graders will have their own laptops supplied by APS and we have recently approved the purchase of additional Chromebook carts to help service the remaining 10th-12th graders.  The GHSF will continue to focus on creating an innovative and engaging learning environment by funding instructional equipment and technology such as interactive Flat Panel Displays for classrooms.  Whether your child is a current 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grader or a future student, every donation makes a real and lasting difference in virtually every Grady student’s education experience.

Donations of ANY amount are greatly appreciated and, keep in mind, we have a recurring payment option. Donating at the $500+ level comes to just $2.78 per day when you consider there are 180 active days in the school year.  DONATE TODAY HERE!

Learn more about Grady High School Foundation. Thank you to those who have already donated!
