Hola Familia,
As 2019 comes to a close, I would like to reflect on the amazing six months we’ve been together and take the opportunity to set the stage for an impactful 2020. Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to push the reset button in many aspects of our chapter, and we are beyond grateful for all the support and positive feedback we’ve received. With six months under our belt, we’ve increased our level of outreach to High School and College Students, we’ve grown stronger relations with minority professional groups and have strived purposefully to offer a better programming and opportunity for our members. With the new year around the corner, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our corporate sponsors and supporting organizations for offering their continuous support towards our chapter. To all our members, volunteers and executive board, for saying yes to all the initiatives and activities, giving their best self in everything we’ve done so far. Finally, I want to also encourage each of you to get involved and join us in the next six months ahead. We have started gearing up for our annual Scholarship process, with some exciting events and initiatives coming up the first half of the year, including the Annual Gala event where we recognize the talent of hispanic and minority students pursuing STEM careers. We are excited to receive the new year and kick off the next series of events. Finally, all the members of the SHPE-TC executive board wish you and your families a joyful holiday season!

SHPE 2020 Scholarship Applications
Stay tuned as we will begin the scholarship application process in January 2020! We are also looking for members to join the scholarship review committee, no previous experience is required.

2019 Noche de Ciencias
In early October, the SHPE TC organized the 2019 Noche de Ciencias event during Hispanic heritage month. The event was hosted at Hiawatha Collegiate High School located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Over 70+ (K-12) students got to interact with members of the local SHPE chapter, EATON, MEDTRONIC, BOSTON SCIENTIFIC, Meyer Borgman Johnson & MNSEA YMG, as well as other volunteers in hands-on STEM activities. A parent college workshop was offered and delicious Mexican style dinner was provided for all attendees.

Project Management Workshop
Thank you to everyone who joined us last week in our Project Management Workshop! This event was the product of a direct collaboration between SHPE Twin Cities, NSBE Twin Cities Chapter and Engineers Without Borders Minnesota Professional Chapter. Special thanks to our partners at Jamf for hosting us, to all of our panelists who provided a great insightful conversation and to all attendees who enjoyed a great session and networking hour.

Part of the SHPE Twin Cities board with SHPE chapter from the University of Minnesota and SHPE chapter from the University of St. Thomas at the 2019 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers National convention in Phoenix!! SHPE workshop with students at UoM
SHPE-TC had the opportunity to host its second annual career workshop with students from the SHPE college chapter of the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas. This workshop focuses on providing valuable interviewing experiences to all the college attendees as they prepare for the SHPE National Convention.
